The second goal killed us - Filipovic

Golden Arrows coach Zoran Filipovic says the second goal by Kaizer Chiefs killed his team's spirit and quashed any chances of them getting something out of the match.

Amakhosi defeated Abafana Besthende 2-0.

The first goal was scored by defender, Valery Nahayo in the 50th minute, while the second was scored by Siphiwe Tshabalala from the penalty spot. Amakhosi were awarded the penalty when Siyanda Zwane was adjudged to have fouled Sthembiso Ngcobo in the box.

"It was a very good game with a lot of speed from both sides, but they gave us more trouble in the second-half and they got those goals. However it was the second goal that killed us. It killed our spirit and any possibility of us getting something out of the game. We did make some changes by bringing in more offensive players, but Kaizer Chiefs made it difficult for us to get a goal. I am satisfied with my players as they gave their all though we lost," says the Arrows coach.

His counterpart at Amakhosi, Vladimir Vermezovic says he was happy with the performance of his side especially in the second-half. "We started slowly in the first-half but we did very well in the second-half as we went on to win the match."

Vermezovic went on to say this season will be very difficult as compared to last season. "This season will be more difficult than the previous ones. Though we will not have a match after every three days like last season but we will not have big break during Christmas and New Year and we need all our players to be ready."

They might be aggrive by the decision, But they cannot argue that the goal came against the run of play. Chiefs were very much in charge throughout the evening. Period Makhosi stop entertaning izilima from Pie city fc and Sunbaboons

It is true that Abdul made a mistake but he is a human being and he was behind the incident. Chiefs deserve to win with more than two goals, they dominated the game from the start. Khune was again on holiday as Arrows had only three half chances at Chiefs goal the whole 90 minutes. They came for a draw but it did not work for them, their coach also admitted that Chiefs is a big team with quality in the post match interview. The same thing happen in La Liga the same night in a game between Levante and Sevilla. The referee gave Sevilla a controversial penalty after a Levante player tackled a Sevilla player from behind outside the penalty area and the player fall inside the penalty area. The referee awarded Sevilla a penalty which made them to win the game 2-1. This shows that referees are human beings and they make mistakes everywhere. For viewers and match commentators we have the advantage of seeing the incidents replays on TVs and the referees to have that opportunity. It happen in the World Cup and it will happen again as long as the referee's decision remain final in the game of football. Who can forget the legitimate goals for Wits and Celtic which were disallowed last season against Sundowns and the goal that Lionel Messi scored with a hand for Barcelona two seasons ago and it stood? This shows that referees made mistakes in every other game and it is only sober minded people who understand this.
