Everton's Nigerian trio of Joseph Yobo, Yakubu Ayegbeni and Victor Anichebe will once again be missing when the Toffees take on Aston Villa in Sunday's Premier League fixture.

None of the three have featured this season, but while Anichebe is out with a knee problem, assistant manager Steve Round said last week that Yakubu Ayegbeni and Joseph Yobo were improving their fitness after a late return from the World Cup.

Both players have now been ruled out of the trip to Villa Park for different reasons.

Yobo has sustained a thigh strain in training, whilst Yakubu has been struck down by illness.

Manager David Moyes told the club website: "Yakubu had a knock but also had a stomach upset in midweek and wasn't available to come in. Joseph had a thigh strain picked up in training but both of them are days away rather than weeks."

Yobo has still got another two good years in him. Yaks could loose weight and get back to his old form in the past. The door shouldn't be shut on any Super Eagles Player. They should all be allowed to fight for a place. Alot of you are ungrateful, I remember when Yobo played thru a series of World Cup qualifiers with injury in 2008.

What's wrong with Yak? Has he started having contractions? I noticed he was like 30 weeks pregnant during the world cup in South Africa

stan'Lee: 2010-08-29 16:43

Up Heartland FC, Up Samson Siasia! Heartland 2-1 leading. 4 minutes remaining. WWW.IRAQGOALS.NET

Eneramo scores twice for Esperance in 3-0 win over cup holders TP Mazembe. A top scorer in this year's championship while Yakubu is nowhere near the goal in any competitive game. Recall Eneramo has been scoring week-in, week-out. Last week and last 2 weeks, etc he scored. Why was he then dropped by Amodu and Lagerback? I bet, if he were in the nations cup squad, he would have scored against Ghana in the semi-finals since we created many chances which Martins and Yak foolishly missed. In the finals, he would have been playing against familiar opponents, the north africans-egypt. Who knows we might have won the cup. Why do we keep making the same mistakes? Probably when he is old and off-form they will start using him. Nonesense! Eneramo is the best out-and-out striker Nigeria has today. They better start utilizing him now. Siasia and others, take note!

Quick recovery brothers, Everton is missing you!

No wonder the foreigners on this site insult us when we insult our owns, Yak and Yob have both done well for Nigeria in not so distant past and I think people should respect their contributions to Nigerian soccer. I understand we did bad in the just concluded world cup in SA but it Was not the players' faultS but NFF's logistics failure( why hiring a foreign manager so late when all Amodu needed were assistants like Siassa, Olisey and Okocha? Why did we fail to execute grade A friendlies?, etc). Nigerian football under this present NFF(I mean this hurriedly elected ones) will not go anywhere even if we miraculously have Spanish national team as our team. Nigerians need to learn how to organise and lead!!

COME ON NIGERIA!!!

You guys are all bunch of *******s that knows nothing about soccer. Yakubu played very well in the world cup but was unlucky because some stupid and selfish players did not feed him the ball to score goals. I bet you guys that Yakubu will return back to form and start scoring goals for Nigeria. In my opinion, he should be made the new captain of the super eagles to lead Nigeria for the world cup in Brazil 2014. Yakubu is one of the best striker we have right now and Na God go hammer anybody mouth wey say Yakubu no good. Ye ye people!!!
