Japanese striker Norikazu Murakami says he was surprised at his transfer listing by Platinum Stars despite having finished the disastrous campaign last season as one of the top scoring strikers, along with Luis Renteria and Henrico Botes.
All three strikers finished with four league goals each but Murakami along with Renteria have been offloaded at the request of new coach Owen da Gama.
Murakami's return of four goals in 10 starts is rather decent for a club that struggled.
"I was not expecting this kind of decision to be made by the club because I have only finished just a season in South Africa. So I am surprised, but then I don't have a choice because it is the coaches and management that make decisions about players at the club.
"The club management told me that the coach had said I am not in his plans for the new season. What I am in the clear about is that I did my best for the club whenever I was given the chance to play," says Murakami.
Though his contractual matters at Dinaledi are still to be ironed out as he is still under contract, the 28 year-old has now surfaced at Golden Arrows.
"I am here training with Arrows and I don't know what will eventually happen. My agent (Mike Fola) just asked me to come to Durban and train with Arrows which is what I have done. Right now I don't know about my situation at Platinum Stars besides the fact that I have been put on the transfer list. I just hope my contract matter gets sorted with Platinum Stars so that I continue playing football.
"If nothing happens for me here in South Africa then I will be left with option but to leave," he says.
Murakami was put on the transfer list along with Renteria, Alton Meiring and Themba Ntumba.
