Warriors boycott threat averted

The threat of a players’ boycott at African Warriors training has been averted after outstanding wages were paid.

The South African Players Union stepped in a fortnight ago when some players approached the union to take a hand in the matter.

Negotiations took place between Jabu Khumalo, boss of the Free State First Division outfit and Sapfu’s Cappy Matutoane.  Khumalo admitted to a cash flow problem but promised to sort out the matter.

This has now been done and the players are now training for their opening League fixture.

Meanwhile, left back Lerato Mofokeng is set to watch their opening match on September 11 against Thanda Royal Zulu from the stands after picking up an injury during their friendly game again Bidvest Wits at Johannesburg on Saturday.
