Thusa Phala links up with Owen da Gama again

Dinaledi confirm Phala signing

Posted: 2010-08-25 21:48

Platinum Stars have completed the signing of prodigal son Thuso Phala on a three-year contract.

The 24-year-old midfielder is back at Stars for second spell to reunite with coach Owen da Gama, having had a horrid spell in Gauteng with both Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Dineladi manager Obed Legobate has confirmed Phala’s return, telling KickOff.com: “Yes, he has definitely signed with us and will be amongst the new recruits to be officially unveiled by the club soon.”

Meanwhile, Stars will be without striker Bradley Grobler when they open their 2010/11 Absa Premiership campaign against Mpumalanga Black Aces on Sunday.

“The doctor has given me another week before I can resume training, which definitely rules me out of Sunday’s game against Aces. But our preparations have been good and I am confident the guys will come home with the three points,” Grobler tells KickOff.com.

Coach Da Gama also confirmed that both Ryan Botha and Edward Williams are doubtful for the game against AmaZayoni.

“We have some injuries, including to Williams, who has just returned from an operation. But we still have a few days and maybe the situation will improve before our game against Aces,” he says.

The prodigal son is back. He should count himself lucky as Owen da Gama is a generous coach.

Good for you Phala...you are not bad player at all...just that you not a big team player...plus competition at Downs was even stiffer than at Cheats..god luck speed fire

Maestro KC: 2010-08-26 09:51

Fight on Thuso, dont let people discourage you...good move

Wonder: 2010-08-26 10:13

Hope it all turns out best for you my man, start all over and prove to all and sundry why you were signed by those so called big teams in the first place, don't let this derail you from your path to stardom, keep plugging away and eventually you will come right!!

Thokozani: 2010-08-26 10:19

It's nice to see transfere-listed players getting deals else-where. How I wish Shakes could get a team.

Has anyone noticed how everytime The Mighty Downs sign a player, articles go as far as revealing the price paid? But if it's other teams (Chicks and Bugs) included, nothing is said about the fee. What does this mean really?

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2010-08-26 10:54

and the difference is 70% of them at Chiefs are k@k players while 70% of them at Pirates are quality players, nxa.

Fact: Nhleko + Torrealba+Kaizer Jnr+Musona scored less than 10 goals combined last season but they are all strikers..... talking about useless players.

Livhuani: 2010-08-26 10:55

I hope Owen is not going to favour him over Josheph Molongoane, cause to me Josheph is the player to watch this season.

Authentic: 2010-08-26 10:55

He and Gordon Gilbert can consider themselves one of the worst players to ever don the gold and black...

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2010-08-26 11:06

Teko is Highly Blessed In Pirates::::Bring it on!!! People i cant wait to watch OP, espicially to see the special one Teko Modise once again proving his critics wrong surrounded by a GALAXY OF STARS. Bafana Bafana is too slow for Teko, he is used to high and fast tempored games. not boMatatazela,KG and BoPhuza , naboTrekere & abo good for nothing Pienaaaar Nx. Teko will be relieved to perform with no pressure by his skillful co-midfielders Klate,Msowoya, Mabena, Mayambela, Tlou, Mabalane, Chansa, Jali (Choose anyone). no pressure, no pressur at all. Pirates players compliment each other very well, unlike in Bafana Bafana, where players tand to b selfish.

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2010-08-26 11:12

they have always been spreading lies and shouting from rooftops that pirates has 100 players nywe, nywe, nywe. KingDK put them in their place and thanks for the info, I wasn't aware. I'd love to see how they comeback from that one

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2010-08-26 11:32

Pirates actually has 41 players minus 7 (Mthembu, Mothibantwa, Nyanda, Masina, Tipa, Mthombeni and Shendzelani). So all in all Pirates have 34 players. Kaizer Chiefs have 41 plus Mkhulu Nengo, The return soldier plus the young star they stole from us. Which brings the number of players to 43. 9 more players than Pirates. Chiefs were fooled by media which often write that Pirates have 101 players that they cant even name. So Kaizer Chiefs was trying to compete with Pirates with the number of players and ended up with surplus with no quality. See, you cant run a team through the media. Thats exactly what Pitso is doing sidelining Teko. Pitso will fail.

hahahahaha
