Maritzburg sign Kurt Lentjies

Kurt Lentjies loves Ernest Middendorp

Maritzburg sign Kurt Lentjies

The big news coming out of Maritzburg United’s media day on Tuesday is that Kurt Lentjies has finally signed a three-deal with the club.

The attack-minded midfielder joined the Team of Choice on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns when last season’s transfer window opened in November, but now his move has been made permanent.

“Coach Ernst Middendorp is the main reason for me joining Maritzburg United. I like the environment at Maritzburg, the players and the fans,” Lentjies says. “But they way in which Middendorp gets the team to play is the thing that does it for me. Now, it’s not just about me, but what I can do for the team.

“Last season we were pushing for a Top 8 finish near the end but just missed out; this season we have a better chance of achieving that or even breaking into the Top 5.”

While addressing the media, Middendorp identified defence and scoring goals as the areas that his team needs to improve in. Now that Mario Booysens has returned to Ajax Cape Town after a loan spell last season, Middendorp is still on the lookout for a suitable replacement.

“Mario did well during his time with us. His brother David, also a defender, has been training with us in pre-season and we have not finalised a deal with him. Sundowns’ Derek Spencer is another player we’re hoping to agree terms with as well,” Middendorp pointed out.

With regards to the goalscoring department, Ajax’s Diyio Sibisi has been spotted training with the club, having also been trying his luck at Bloemfontein Celtic.

Go well go Kurt! I believed that you were destined to play for Sundowns, but somethings happen that we have to accept. They didn't value your worth rather they believe in expired players like Tso Vilakazi, Papi Zothwane & Nyandoro! Well go have fun & enjoy urself. I'll miss you!

I will miss Kurt too, he is a very good player indeed. Sundowns should have rather released Nyandoro instead of this boy!!!!

You're blessed with natural talent which is why they signed you in de first place. If they knew what they were doing, they would have built this team around u nt old crocks like abo-vilakazi, nyandoro, zothwane. Funny enough they'll buy you again next season. Sundowns cant stop irritating me with their stupid decisions. As for dat coach i hate him. How do u say you're happy with your team's progress when we've lost 2 games already. Nx!

Wishing Kurt well in his future endeavours even beyond Maritzburg Utd because he deserves better than that.

Teko prayed for his enemies, to live longer so that they will see his success. Psalm 55:

1: Listen to my prayer, O God. Do not ignore my cry for help!

2: Please listen and answer me, for I am overwhelmed by my troubles.

3: My enemies shout at me, making loud and wicked threats. They bring trouble on me and angrily hunt me down.

4: My heart pounds in my chest. The terror of death assaults me.

5: Fear and trembling overwhelm me, and I can’t stop shaking.

6: Oh, that I had wings like a dove; then I would fly away and rest!

7: I would fly far away to the quiet of the wilderness.

8: How quickly I would escape— far from this wild storm of hatred.

9: Confuse them, Lord, and frustrate their plans, for I see violence and conflict in the country.

10: Its walls are patrolled day and night against invaders,

but the real danger is wickedness within the country.

11: Everything is falling apart; threats and cheating are rampant in the streets.

12: It is not an enemy who taunts me— I could bear that. It is not my foes who so arrogantly insult me— I could have hidden from them.

13: Instead, it is you—my equal, my companion and close friend.

14: What good fellowship we once enjoyed as we walked together to the house of God.

15: Let death stalk my enemies; let the graveb swallow them alive, for evil makes its home within them.

16: But I will call on God, and the Lord will rescue me.

17: Morning, noon, and night I cry out in my distress, and the Lord hears my voice.

18: He ransoms me and keeps me safe from the battle waged against me, though many still oppose me.

19: God, who has ruled forever, will hear me and humble them. For my enemies refuse to change their ways; they do not fear God.

23: But you, O God, will send the wicked down to the pit of destruction. Murderers and liars will die young, but I am trusting you to save me.

Heita Hola Wonder: I feel for you my brother cos two years ago you was one of the Downs faithfulls who were against Kurt being transfer listed: but honestly speaking I believe he expected too much favour from the coaches...yes he's quality but I don't like players (Tso, Johannes) who act as if football is about favouritism while we all know that it's only about competition...he played some games at United last season but always ran out of gas in those games....he does lack a what we call stamina and he's gained weight, so as long as he's prepared to go an extra mile he will be an asset to our football......I wish we could release Johannes with a R5.00 fee (and by the way Jomo Sono sold Pitso Mosimane with that fee, years ago...Lol

James: 2010-08-26 10:29

Well done boy! you definitely quality and I believe Maritzburg also signed Sheldon Lawrence (new kid on the block)! one to certainly look out for. The two of you should play well together and i think Wits is going to be sorry they did not sign Sheldon as he is quality and left footed nogal! all the best make the bushies proud!!! the one thing that sets us bushies apart is that we not only skillful but we play we can use our heads when playing as well!
