The Bafana Bafana star is out of contract next June, and several top clubs are rumoured to be keeping a close eye on his situation at Goodison Park. Arsene Wenger is known to be keen on Pienaar, commenting that he would 'get in the Arsenal team,' while Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has also spoken of his admiration for the winger. Amid a backdrop of celebrated managers declaring an interest in the player, Pienaar and Everton have not been able to reach an agreement over a new deal. Despite this, the 29-year-old is adamant that the club's fans have nothing to fear, with negotiations progressing amicably. "I'll be honest. I have a year left on my contract. I'm happy to sign a new one, but at my age it has to be right and fair," he told Click Liverpool. "The only difference I've had with the club has been over what's right. "There's been a lot of speculation about a transfer but I've never once said that I want to leave Everton. I love playing for Everton."

The problem with us(South African fans)and our media is that we are so quick to judge, two or three seasons ago Phumelele Bhengu scored two goals against chiefs and we started calling him Benni but that guy is a complete cow. Shabba scored one brilliant goal in the world cup and after that people started calling him a star and said he had a wonderful world cup while he had an average world cup. In the game against Uruguay Shabba was just a passenger but because people were still thinking about that goal they didn't see that, even on the games against Mexico and France he did nothing yet people are calling him a star. If you disagree tell me what has he done during the world cup and tell me what has he done for chiefs. No team in the world can pay R20M for Shabba

Who says Benni McCarthy is over-weight, undisciplined and at 32 ready for the soccer scrap heap? Well, most South Africans it would seem.
But on Saturday the gifted, but enigmatic top Bafana Bafana international goalscorer, who was booted out of World Cup contention after making the preliminary group selection, provided some stunning evidence that writing his football epitaph might, in fact, be a little premature.
Coming on after half-time as a West Ham United substitute for Carlton Cole in the 2-0 pre-season warm-up win against Bundesliga club Borrusia Monchengladbach at the Waldstadion in Germany, McCarthy scored what was described as a 51st minute "stunner".
