Goalkeeping blunder costs Heartland

Posted: 2010-08-16 07:30

A dreadful goalkeeping error saw Heartland slump to a second 1-0 successive defeat in the CAF Champions League.

Goalkeeper Austin Brown raced off his line to chase after a harmless looking ball, and then totally misjudged the bounce, allowing Nduibuisi Eze to roll home on his debut for Ismaily and give the Egyptian club their first points of the campaign.

Both sides, bottom of the group going into the game, were desperate for the win that would keep their semifinal ambitions alive.

It was the perfect recipe for a nervous start, but it was to be Heartland who would crack first, and decisively.

The defeat leaves Heartland, finalists last year, in danger of failing at the group stages this term.

In the other group game, JS Kabylie kept up their one hundred percent record with a 1-0 victory over Al Ahly.

Defender Mohammed Khoutir-Ziti was on target after 24 minutes to keep the Algerians firmly ensconced on top of the log.

Most times i wonder what a coach could in a situation where a player has decided to make him fail. Look at what Yakubu did in d world cup and what this Heartland also did against Ismaily, but the weight will certainly be on the coaches for not winning. Its terrible.....

TAIWO: 2010-08-16 08:40

Aie Aie Aie, I don't see the match but anyway they don't must to be discourage, the way of the success is hard work, isnt'it???

benson: 2010-08-16 08:43

This goalkeeper is not supposed to be the best in d country, this is champions league, his composure is very poor,he is jittery and lacks confidence,i must give kudos to the coaches, for the first time i saw a team from naija playing total football

vinke: 2010-08-16 10:04

Too bad for Heartland...I just hope and believe something better happens in their favour in teh next three matches.

I watched this match with keen interest not for hearthland but for siasia. My opinion is that Siasia was not suppose to be in this particular team of heartland. The goalkeeper was the worst I have ever seen on international scene. The goalkeeper on two clear occasion was behaving like the jabulani ball. He could not remain on a course. The players well tried to paly the composed football but I wondered if that was the same heartland team that got to the final last season. I guess I was calm when I realised that most of the players went for trials in Europe when there team has a CAF important competition. I dont blame them but no body should blame Siasia too. You have to have a ticket to win a lottery. Heartland dont have the players now.

The Lokomotiv Moscow and Nigeria forward,Osaze Odemwingie is attracting interest from newly promoted EPL side,West Bromich Albion .Recall that West Brom suffered the heaviest defeat at the start of the premiership on Saturday, against Chelsea.

Greek side,Panathinaikos were also interested in Osaze's signature but the 29 year old has spoken of his desire to play in the English league.

Meanwhile,Loco are interested in the sale of Osaze to West Brom because they want to use the money to purchase the 25 year old Artem Milevsky from Dynamo Kiev.

Osaze was also linked to Tottenham Hotspur and Birmingham City in the summer market but those deals later met a brick-wall.

shut ur mouth this man called a2j4 u have to encourage teams not opening ur wide mouth . do u think u can play football is it not ur mate playing out there , ur there ****ing . and talking bull**** .
any goal keeper can make mistake at any time . when u watch the match hearthland out played them but goal blunder det them back . do u sports and a team game is collective efforts . if somebody makes a mistake it will ruin the entire team so don,t blame them hope and pray for them . they still have chance cos they will play double home and definitely they will win those two matches and go to al aly and struggle any thing can happen there . as afr as i,m concern they will qualify.and nobody wil blame siasia so mind ur words .

Well i did enjoy watching the game. The match was so fantastic. Heartland did perform very well as they dominated the game. The goal scored by Ismaily was a keeper error. Brown over charged the ball that later over headed him, that saw the Ismaily scoring the only winning goal.

Siasia boys really tried alot. And i disgreed with people here in this forum that is blaming Siasia. We don't have to blame him because he is not in Heartland to build a team,he is there to help them out. After all many of Heartland players has gone to a trials in europe. Siasia is just managing the players that he melt in the club. I believed that Siasia will do more better when he takes over the senior national team because by then, the NFF will give him the full support to build new teams that will be the future hope of nigeria.
Baron has spoken and so shall it be.

Detmolder: 2010-08-16 13:45

The Heartland coach should be fired. I saw highlights of the match and Heartland were tactically inept.

tituyu: 2010-08-16 14:28

Guys you see the bias against the white man i am talking about!!. Now siasia and lagerback, what's the difference. Nothing, they both took a team they could not change, even when they were aware of the time constraints and in my opinion have performed woefully. But no siasia is just helping heartland (even when he is being payed for his services) while legerback is a failure!!!. why because one has black skin and the other is white!..Am i a siasia hater?, the answer in NO. am i lagerback lover?, NO. But i think we have not been fair on our assessment of lagerback. Lagerback took a team, barely two weeks to the world cup, and what did we expect from him? the same thing has happend to siasia with heartland. And please cut the crap of him not being the ones that bought the players, did he not put all that into consideration before he took the job?..So for the sake of our national team stop overrating siasia because if he fails, he would pocket his money and walk away. the failure would not be his, but our national teams..and about siasia's exorbitant wages, i can only shake my head. Big ups to kolawole and the bill for ur comments devoid of eccentric and overzealous patriotism...Siasia is not the answer to our national team problems, we have an opportunity to build for the world cup in brazil. lets get it right...

Guys this is exactly what I said in a of my write up yesterday, I believe in God but am not a bible batcher and I don’t have to disturb people with my religion but I have to be honest with you guys, some evil corrupt leaders have done something to us in this country so that we will never understand ourselves and in the process, they will milk our dear country dry while we are arguing with each other.
Other than tituyu, who is anti Siasia and did not hide it, then we have emeka, are we sure his Nigerian? He`s probably south African, you can follow him on the south African kick off site.
The rest of us are saying the same thing, Siasia is not to blame.
The goalkeeper needs to do better,
Apart from John Owoeri, the rest of the quality player that took them to the final last year are missing, for greener pasture.
We are saying the same thing so why the hullabaloo and calling each other name? We are saying the same thing, at least they where consistence with their one touch football which we love Siasia for and hope he will bring to the Eagle soon hopefully.

Apiripah: 2010-08-16 19:28

@IKKALU,tituyu or whatever he call himself want Amodu.People just log into their computer and type whatever they want.Just ask tituya how many feet is a goal post,he doesnt know but he want to be a coach, what a life?

Apiripah: 2010-08-16 19:40

@tituyu or tituya, never ever compare Siasia with lagerback,Lagerback made his own selections and was okay with his team while siasia is going with what he was giving to.Believe me,if Siasia was giving that opportunity to take SE to south Africa, you would have seen SE out of that cheap group.

SUYA: 2010-08-16 22:00

@Ice Queen, oops, Sarah.

Wonders will never end. I did not know that Sarah can copy and paste. Thanks for fooling us all.

SUYA: 2010-08-16 22:02

Perhaps, she learned to paste from Collin Udoh.

objective bibby: 2010-08-17 00:51

@IKKALU, Hopefully, our so called local coaches will tow the path of the gentleman, Iffy Onuora and not waiting/scrambling for Eagles job always.

kessy: 2010-08-17 02:14

This is what I don’t understand about this "Nigeria Football Messiah" named Siasia. Mr. Siasia, the is the same Heartland team coached by Kelechi Emeteole that won 3-3 aggregate against Tiko Uited and also defeated SuperSport United by 4-2 aggregate. Under your care Siasia, the same team finds it very difficult to score a single goal in 2 matches. WOW... @tituyu, thank you very much for your posting because you are one person I see in this forum that reason with facts not all this sissiamenias in this forum.

Victor orji : 2010-08-17 22:00

Is a pity that heartland fc wowfully faild this time around. Bt next time i hope they'll win.
