Daniel Opare has made his Standard Liege competitive debut, ending several years of inactivity at competitive club level.
The Ghanaian right-back played the entire game in Standard’s 3-3 draw against Lokeren on Saturday and declared he is keen to establish himself in that position.
“I think I played well and I can only improve on this. I need more playing time to justify myself in the first team. I moved to Belgium because I want to play so am very serious about that,” Opare told Ghanasoccernet.
Opare made the move to Standard from Real Madrid, where he has spent three years mostly with the junior side.
His international prospects took a battering in the process and will now seek to get back in the reckoning for the rightback slot of the Black Stars, with Samuel Inkoom and John Paintsil now firmly established ahead of him.
