Jean-Yves Kerjean hopes for South Africa return

Posted: 3 August 2010 Time: 07:23

Former Orlando Pirates coach Jean-Yves Kerjean is looking to return to South Africa.

Karjean, who hit the headlines a few years ago when he plotted Bucs’ famous 3-1 victory over Kaizer Chiefs using six defenders, has applied for the vacant post at Bloemfontein Celtic.

Speaking to KickOff.com from France, the former Bucs coach says he is looking forward to joining any team, either in the First Division or the PSL this coming season.

"I love South Africa and made a lot of friends during my stay in the country few years ago. I would love to come back and coach in South Africa. My people are making contact with some of the teams in the country and I am available after my contract with Stade Brestois where I spent the past three years coaching expired recently."

Abbie Rasimphi of June Sixteen Sports Management company confirms that they are trying to secure a team for Karjean in South Africa.

"We are talking to a few teams, but at this stage can't mention their names," he says.

It's pathetic when journalists write lies whereas we know facts. Chiefs lost 0-3 to Bucs in December 2001, not 1-3. Lesley Manyathela scored a brace and Tso Vilakazi scored the third one against Brian Baloyi. Can the journalist tell us who scored for Chiefs?

Those were the tactics that he knew was going to win him the game, so whats wrong with 6 defenders?
How many defenders did Jose Morinho deploy in the CL second leg againts Baca???
I think the guy analyzes the opponents strengths and weak points and exploit the weaknesses...

Enerst Fakude, did you have to mention the 6 defenders cr@p? when you say 6 defenders, did you mean there were 3 fullbacks and 3 centre backs? this is crap. or maybe you want to tell me that defensive mid fielders are defenders? but how can a team that plays with 6 defenders score 3 goals? unless they were playing an amateur k@@k team!

We are not interested in the pattern he has used to beat Chiefs. Six defenders could have been used and that shouldn't be an issue now. Enrst Middendorp used to field more than six natural defenders. So, Orlando Pirates fans shouldn't disagree with what the reporter has mentioned in his report. Some Orlando Pirates posters/fans are just too weak to understand things.

I remember this guy. Under him Pirate played an Old European football style and they hammered 3-0 by Sundowns, under Ted Dumitri.

To improve the quality of football in the PSL, we need to avoid having European rejects coach in the country. This guy is so desparate he's even willing to settle for a First Division team.

We need to give our former players, who are aspiring coaches an chance to coach our teams. Overseas coaches are not always better than our local coaches. Gavin Hunt has proven that 3 times, consecutively.
