Morris carded on debut

There were three South Africans in action in the UEFA Europa League third round on Thursday, with mixed results.

Nasief Morris made his debut for Cypriot club Apollon but was booked after 10 minutes and then watched as his side succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to Russian outfit Sibir.

Apollon will be confident of overturning the deficit at home in a week’s time and this was the first piece of competitive action for Morris since December.

Bafana Bafana right-back Anele Ngcongca faired much better as his Belgian side Racing Genk won 5-1 away at Finnish side Inter Turku to all but seal their place in the next round.

Finally, Bafana left-back Tsepo Masilela played as his Israeli team Maccabi Haifa secured a slender 1-0 lead at home to Dinamo Minsk and now face a tough away trip to Belarus in the second leg.

Anele is the best !! For me it's between him and Bongani for future bafana captaincy.

Kickoff iyabheda yazi....is this newsworthy mara,

"was booked after 10 minutes and then watched"

You are not even mentioning if it was a yellow or red card. It's possible that he was substituted and that explains why he watched on the sideline. Be clear asseblief tog

I still can't believe that Morris is playing in such a mediocre league like Cyprus. I still believe he's the right leader for Bafana and not the axe one

I'm with you maftown, Anele is miles better than Gaxa at right back and Bongani should take over the captaincy from Aaron 'Weakest Link' Mokoena.

Morris should have rather opted to play in the PSL than in Cyprus. The PSL is a better quality league and Pitso would have been able to assess him properly here.

BEVAN FRANSMAN, playing in the UEFA Champion's League, is the best SUITABLE CAPTAIN FOR BAFANA IN THE NEAR FUTURE. The Israeli League is a FAR STRONGER LEAGUE, than our OVER-RATED PSL.

Mr. Morris in future please dont cry and say you are better than Mokoena!Mokoena is playing in one of the Top 3 leagues in the whole world! You brought this to yourself, no coach in his right mind can pick you playing for mediocre teams! The Cypriot league is no where near the PSL in terms of money, standard and quality. I know you will say that "Cyprus" is Europe whereas Mzansi is in "Africa"! Good Luck and Enjoy your game in "Europe", Mosimane must forget about you though!

According to Kickoff Morris was booked (yellow card). Whunot use the preferred words like SENT OFF, or 2nd bookable offence, straight red card.
