Former Buccaneer Philani Kubheka continues to fly the South African flag in Asia, but there are others making progress in the East as well.

Former AmaZulu and DR Congo striker Kabanga Tshamala as well as Kubheka hit the target in a League clash against each other. But Tshamla was the hero with a quick-fire double that gave his team victory.

According to Vietnamese media reports, Tshamala scored twice in the last five minutes as Dong Tam Long An beat Binh Duong 3-2.

Earlier in the clash, Kubheka – who had been used in Coca-Cola World Cup related adverts all over Vietnam during June - netted with a header to give Binh Duong a second half lead.

Meanwhile in Indonesia, former Ajax Cape Town and Maritzburg United midfielder Mfundo Mathonsi helped his club Persiram Raja Ampat win their second division stream and reach the play-offs.

But that’s as far as they got and they failed to win promotion to the elite league.

Mathonsi, however, did well enough to attract interest from several top division sides and decided to remain in Indonesia to explore those options rather than return home for a three-week off-season break.

Fellow Durban players, striker Makhosonke Bhengu (also a former Orlando Pirates player) and midfielder Sthembiso Ntombela, did come back home though after helping Hong Kong side Fourway Rangers survive the drop.

Ntombela was later seen at newly-promoted First Division side Blackburn Rovers in East London, and then with another new second tier franchise, African Wanderers.

Bhengu rather kept a low profile and trained on his own before flying back to Hong Kong, where he was set to train with several clubs.
