Bienvenu Tipa called off a proposed trial in Indonesia in order to sign with Orlando Pirates.
The Cameroonian, who has received his South African citizenship and would be registered as a local, says he jumped at the chance to play for Bucs having also turned out in the PSL with Bloemfontein Celtic and Bidvest Wits.
"I was supposed to travel to Indonesia for trials but while I was preparing my travel documents my manager called me and talked about going for a trial at Pirates," Tipa says.
"Any player would jump at the chance to play for Pirates and personally, for me, it will be one of the highlights of my playing career."
Although a deal is not quite done yet, the 30-year-old defensive midfielder has impressed in training, but as veteran defender Lucky Lekgwathi warns, he would be in for some "stiff competition" should he join the club.
