Utaka keen to stay in Premiership

Posted: 2010-07-27 12:17

The Portsmouth striker John Utaka says that he is attracting interest from Bolton, Sunderland and Fulham as well as the Bundesliga as his departure from the south coast club draws closer.

Utaka, 28, moved to Fratton Park three years ago for a Ł7million fee from French side Rennes, and financially stricken Pompey will be hoping to recoup some of that fee with the sale of the Nigerian international.

Utaka moved to the Premier League with a high reputation, however, his goal scoring record is far from convincing; the striker has scored just seven Premier League goals in his three years at the club.

Despite his lack of goals, the reported interest from the Premier League clubs has come as a welcome step for Utaka who also claims to have received offers from the Bundersliga.

"My manager is looking into the offers before him," Utaka said.

"We have had Sunderland, Fulham and Bolton and some clubs in Germany, Everything is in the air.

"I would like to stay in the Premier League. It is quick, aggressive and direct and there are loads of goals every week. And, yes, the money in England is also good."

woo The Press is disturbing people's peace with these stories of criminals in the glass house... Is it until Super Eagles flopped with messiah lager back b/4 you remembered that lulu and co are embezzling funds…

As for Utaka i think we need youthfulness in the team now..Ghana nad Germany proved to us all in south Africa

Any way All these Glass house stealing would have been in the cooler had it been Nigeria managed to qualify to the Quarter finals or semis….

Then even 1 billion dollars was stolen no one would have bothered …

Pls let us hear word jare …

If Siasia had been installed as coach with his olympic boys (who by all standard were far better than the now Ghanaian boys) immediately after the olympics by now we would have gotten a team or allow Amodu ride with his luck at least he would have qualified us from that group..

Then the lust of white man’s dollars commision lead to all this with some forunmites falling prey to NFF antics of tactical incompetence of the nigerian coach …

Some of those noise making columnist demanding for a white man have now gone into cooler with anarchy looming everywhere just like I had predicted b/4 amodu’s sack and subsequently ban by KON until after the world cup when my comments were then re-activated...

I wish to see the face of a certain Mr. DUDU ORUMEN..(SOCCER OFFICIONADO or what do they call him).

That man has never allowed any one in this country drink water with his white man being better than siasia, amodu , eguavon, chukwu and co....(these black coaches won bronze and silver in their various quest)

The white men only ended up renaming our teams...super chiken(vogts in Ghana nations cup) and ..Fifa's miss of the tournament( by messiah lagerback)

The same miss Fatkubu did at Angola and we were told the black coach went with tired legs.

Today after similar misses NFF say lagerback is rebuilding a black man's damaged team...when another local coach in Egypt has gone with 3 nations cup in a roll after being in charge for 7 years.

SIASIA MAY GOD GUIDE YOU IF EVENTUALLY INSTALLED..

UP FALCONETS
UP falconet black coach
NIGERIA FOR LIVE….

… No Regrets – Ojo-Oba Reacts Print E-mail
Written by Isah
Monday, 26 July 2010 20:12

Former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) General Secretary, Dr. Bolaji Ojo-Oba, who was yesterday sacked by the executive board of the football federation has reacted to his sack claiming he has no regrets whatsoever for his actions or inactions while he was the scribe of the federation.

Ojo-Oba, however revealed if there was any, it was the inability of the Super Eagles to go beyond the first round at the FIFA World Cup held between June and July where the Nigerian national team finished as Group B least team.

"Anything that has a beginning must have an end. I have no regret for my stewardship as NFF secretary general. My only regret is Super Eagles' inability to progress beyond the first round of the 2010 World Cup. That singular failure still haunts me and will continue to haunt me. I thank the federal government and the Nigeria Football Federation for the opportunity to serve. Life goes on."

The former NFF scribe said he faced a lot of challenges while serving as the head of the secretariat of the football house and may have taken some decisions considered right or wrong in the course of doing his job but has no regrets whatsoever for taking such decisions.

On the missing $236,000.00 reported to have been stolen under his watch, Ojo-Oba cried he knows nothing about the missing money since it was not stolen from his office that those who kept the money know how it got missing.

NB:...THOSE WHO KEPT THE MONEY KNOW HOW IT GOT MISSING...???
I think this young man was referring to Maigari. I love this EARTHQUAKE at NFF.You people messed up my soccer fiesta in SA,you must darely pay for it!!!!

@Oxgood, grey hair does not signify old age. Have you heard about 'hereditary' before. Some teenagers even have strands of grey hair. Let the choice of players into Super Eagles be based on current form and the need of the team after the foundation has been laid with young players.

Agbe: 2010-07-28 21:00

@ Segun, Utaka`s hair is full of grey, the Utaka of 2006 was a great player, my brother that Utaka is long gone, this Utaka is an old man, if his 28 then how old is his brother, Peter? pple like Utaka, Yobo, Yakubu and Ayinla should never play for eagle again, who do they think they are, Babangida? this is not politic its football, Segun did you not see the Black star and Gemany? somebody like Mullar who only start playing top level football last season is now the leading scorer in da world cup. do you think somebody with little experience like jonathan Mensah could have play for 9ja with this type of mentality with have? I beg, good bye Utaka and thanks for what you did for your country. the new super eagle should be 50/50 exp/youth.
