Igesund to be lost to South Africa?

Four-time League winning coach Gordon Igesund may not get the recognition he deserves in his own country, but he is held in high esteem on the African continent.
Proof of this is the fact that the Cameroon media have made Igesund the hot favourite to take over as their national team coach after being shortlisted for the Indomitable Lions hot seat last week.
The former African Wanderers player was cagey when KickOff.com first called him about the news, but later confirmed that he had spoken to the Cameroon Football Federation last week Friday.
“I didn’t want to talk about this, but now that Kick Off obviously knows the story, yes I can confirm that I have spoken to a Cameroon Federation official. We are yet to discuss when any formal interviews will take place.”
Cameroon are currently without a coach after Paul le Guen stepped down following the national team’s dismal performance during the World Cup in South Africa.
German coach Klaus Toppmoller, who is currently unemployed, appears to be second in the running for the post. Topmoller, whose experience at national level was two seasons with the Georgian national team, has also held the reins at Bayer Leverkusen and Hamburger SV.
His countryman Lothar Matthaus was tipped to replace Le Guen shortly after the Frenchman’s resignation, but now appears to have fallen behind in the pecking order.
