Shabba set for Romania move

Siphiwe Tshabalala has been linked with a move to Steaua Bucharest in Romania in a deal that could earn Kaizer Chiefs R5-million.
Steaua coach Victor Piturca said negotiations with Chiefs were complete, and all that was left to organise was the transfer of the money to the club’s bank account after which Tshabalala would get on a plane for the Romanian capital.
Tshabalala is expected to fly to Romania in the next days to join up with his new team, but will likely miss the start of their new season on Saturday.
The left-wing can also look forward to playing in European club competition this season after Steaua finished fourth in the last Romanian League campaign.
Steaua have qualified for the UEFA Europa League and will enter the competition at the play-off stage next month, along with clubs like Aston Villa, Manchester City, FC Porto and PSV Eindhoven.
Steaua were the first east European side to win the European Cup, succeeding in a penalty shootout in 1986.
Tshabalala’s impending departure from Chiefs comes as no surprise after his World Cup heroics. He made his name with the cracking goal against Mexico in the opening game of the tournament last month. He had been linked to clubs in England, France and Turkey, but Steaua have come in as a surprise package.
