Sibusiso Zuma training with Vasco da Gama

Vasco to assess Zuma today

Posted: 2010-07-22 13:06

Former Bafana Bafana striker Sibusiso Zuma will be arriving in Cape Town today to begin training with Absa Premiership rookies Vasco da Gama.

Disclosing this to KickOff.com, Vasco coach Carlos das Neves said: “He will here to look at what we have and we will also look what he has to offer for us before we make decision on whether to sign him.”

The 35-year-old former Bafana star went back to Denmark in September last year to revive his career last year after flopping at Mamelodi Sundowns.

He had been a hero in Denmark with FC Copenhagen in his initial spell in the country, helping his club to win several League titles and cup competitions and also being named Footballer of the Year before joining FC Nordsjaelland, where he made 13 appearances for the club. He was used mainly as an impact player.

Meanwhile, Das Neves adds that he that will keep his permanent job as an accountant at World Sport in Cape Town whilst continuing to coach the club this season.

And the former Hellenic player said he won’t be taking on any additional members to the technical team due to financial constraints.

“I will remain the head coach and won’t be bringing anyone else in; as it was last year. We have been spending time in the gym in the mornings and training in the afternoon during the pre-season training.”

Pirates Back Out Of Olomu Deal

Prince Olomu
The Siya crew can reveal that Bloemfontein Celtic midfielder Prince Olomu may be staying on at the club after negotiations between Siwelele management and Orlando Pirates broke down.

The Nigerian player has been in great demand locally and abroad, but Celtic’s asking price has been a major deterrent in Olomu securing a move.

The latest high profile club to start negotiations with Celtic was Pirates, but Siya sources at the club say they have now backed out of the deal.

According to club insiders, Bloemfontein Celtic’s proposal of a swap deal did not favour the Buccaneers. Had Pirates agreed to Celtic’s terms, the deal would have seen Olomu move to the Buccaneers, with Tlou Segolela going in the opposite direction.

During Segolela’s loan spell Celtic, the 22-year-old did enough to earn Bucs’ trust that he will do well for the club in the new season. With the club unwilling to sacrifice the midfielder for Olomu, the Nigerian looks set to continue playing for Celtic this season.

hehehehehe

Pirates will win this season

SIBUSISO: 2010-07-22 14:57

Soccer Critic ( Tivani ): 2010-07-22 14:46

Tivani, this time around last year pirates came up with players that we know they have the capability to turn things around. When you guys won about 7 games and without conceding a goal......we all thought, wow, pirates have arrived and then,,......we all know what happened then

So tell me my friend, whats gonna be the different now?????

Dont get me wrong, pirates is an old team if not big, so they have the potential to win this season, im not ruling that out

Swona Champ!: 2010-07-22 15:46

this guy made a lot of money, and I tell you this was not one of those cheap move, and he will play well for vasco, their pace will be his advantage, unlike sunflower, at sunflower they play for girls, slow!

rhee u shuld retire doc nw plz ibholla liyakubaleka manje

fire: 2010-07-22 23:43

I agree with you Thabang, though you support the free agents specialists,Vasco lacks ambition. Ever heard of a coach( in the PSL nogal ) who won't hire technical support, will keep his daily job but still sees wisdom in inviting a 35yr old for trials? Some teams are better off in the first division. A question of style bafaneng ba style.
