Duncan Lechesa could go into coaching

Posted: 21 July 2010 Time: 11:13

Free State Stars captain Duncan Lechesa has retired from football and tells KickOff.com why he took the decision.

Lechesa, who turns 34 on Monday, could be roped in to assist new Ea Lla Koto coach Sunday Chidzambwa. However, Lechesa says that’s not his only option.

“I might leave Free State Stars, because there are also a couple of offers from outside the club to coach,” he says. “I am looking forward to this challenge after retiring from football. I was thinking of retiring at the end of the new season, but people came with offers and now I’m thinking of what to do,” Lechesa tells KickOff.com.

‘King’ started his career as a striker and switched to midfield. He starred for Bloemfontein Celtic, Ajax Cape Town, Black Leopards and of course Free State Stars during his career and says he calls it quits a satisfied footballer.

“I feel good about my decision because I retired while still at the top. I was a regular last season for Stars but it is now a time for a new challenge,” Lechesa says.

“I will know on Monday where I will be heading, depending on whether I decide to leave Stars. But Bra Mike [Mokoena] has assured me that there is a place for me at Stars. I’m thinking about it,” Lechesa adds.

Arthur Baartman started playing with and against abo Shaka Ngcobo, Ryder Mofokeng, DD Ace Khuse nabo Banks Sethlodi is he still considered an asset or liability? No need to answer that ne, as long as he's with Chiefs it's fine!

To Duncan, you've played your part broe, all the best for the future!

an interesting question is: have you been saving enough money because we dont want to contribute towards your burial, you played like a true legend and you must also die like a true legend.

Dont tell us, you want to coach now because you played soccer. Study sports pyschology and differenciate yourself and stop begging for jobs.

You have played your part in SA football my man. Indeed you deserve the "legend" status.

But my Q is, cant you do something else beside being a coach? The competion is very tight there in case you havent noticed. Unless you tell me u wanna be an assistant coach for the rest of ur career like Khuse, Khumalo, Madigage, Moloi, Makhanya, the list is endless.

Personally I think Lechesa should have long retired. But I am glad he realized it now. The question is: What is Nyandoro saying? The man should also call it a day. You can't play at the same league with your son, this is not on. Please Musona if you can read this, ask your dady Esrom to quit.
