National Under-20 star Kamohelo Mokotjo scored in a friendly last night and says he is “making progress” during pre-season camp with Feyenoord Rotterdam.
Feyenoord beat FC Dordrecht 4-0, with Mokotjo scoring the third goal after 64 minutes, just three minutes after coming on as a substitute.
Speaking to KickOff.com, the former SuperSport United junior says: “It’s very hard at the moment because it’s pre-season, but I‘m doing okay.”
Mokotjo was handed his first team jersey and will be wearing number 15.
“I was surprised to see so many fans at our first day back at training. We had two sessions, one in the morning and afternoon,” he says.
“We wore the traditional red and white kit in the morning and then later on the white kit. It was a great experience. What happened was 7 000 fans came for the first session and another 10 000 or so later on.”
This is a tradition at Feyenoord, to open the new season with an open day for the fans.
Mokotjo will hope to continue with his progress when Feyenoord start their next leg of pre-season.
“This weekend we’ll be in a training camp in Portugal and will play against Benfica, Aston Villa and Real Mallorca,” Mokotjo says. “I’m looking forward to it of course.”
