NFF to decide on Lagerback

Posted: 2010-07-20 18:02

Nigeria will decide on their coaching situation when top officials of the NFF return from Germany next week.

Swede Lars Lagerback was given a two-week holiday after the World Cup, but has failed to return and a top NFF official informed KickOffNigeria.com that the team's coaching future will be decided in the coming week.

"The Acting Pfresident and some members of the board have gone to Germany for the Under 20 Women's World Cup. There will be a board meeting when they get back next week and a decision will be made then."

Lagerback's assistant Austin Eguavoen has been charged with training the team in his absence, but is not the favourite to be handed the job if the Swede does not return.

"For now, it may be [Samson] Siasia if Lagerback does not return. Eguavoen will probably be sent to the Olympic team to start the process of getting a new set of players in place."

Nigeria have a friendly against South Korea scheduled for August 11, and an African Nations Cup qualifier against Madagascar on September 3 in Abuja.

Largerback should stay.Nigeria need a professional coah for 4 years.Lets Siasia assist him and learn.I can assure you that people that are glamouring for Siasia will ask for his head sooner.I think that with the rate of tribal issues, and irresponsible officials in NFF,I will like someone neutral to take over Super Chicken. We need to allow those *******s to rest.kanu, yakubu, yobo, martins, utaka ETC we have only 6 players to build with like, Obi, n****wo in inter, Rabiu, Haruna, Okoro, Chukwudi., and some u17 and u23 and u21 players.lets go to the next cup of Nations and be average and return next time and be champion.I always cry for that nation because, poor people are suffering, the best players in that Country can't afford to pay coaches, so we are always robbed of the best.I am not sure if Gudluck is a football lover, if that is the case, i will expect him to do better than mouth talk.During IBB, we saw the best from our National team, why?Beacsue his vice was a strong football lover and took it personal. We have the best in NFF in Emeka Omeruah, and we have some solid foundation. The coach get the other from above, so that's what i will be expecting from of Presido now.
We need better coach
We need to restructure NFF
We need to give our young player's chance fail or not
We need a strong and neutral coach and allow Siasia to learn from them
We need our presido to be involve with coachs and ask for direct contact

Cant we understand the handwriting on the wall. Lagerbeer or Largerfront has gotten drunk in Sweden and possibly not coming back from the hangover. Its better to forget about that man and focus on the restructuring process. NFF is claiming 2 weeks for break. Tomorrow Largerfront will resurface with a claim on pages of newspapers demanding for damages.Wake up NFF !!! And be wise. On the reported match with South Korea,i hope it will not add salt to injury. These Koreans are looking for a way to disgrace us again. They are demanding for at least half of our players to the last world cup in South Africa to be present in the squad will play against them. Which of the Nigerian players will like to leave their club at this 11th hour to honour this match? Wake up NFF. Dont be too greedy to agree on what u cant handle. Watch b4 u leap.Best of luck Super eagles.

My dear brothers, HOW ARE YOU? DO YOU ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAYS TIME?? GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU. NOW, I THINK I'TS BETTER TO LEAVE LARS LAGERBACK.
IT'S NOT THE MAN OF SITUATION FOR OUR EAGLES,I UNDERSTAND THAT MANY OF YOU WANT HIM TO STAY,YOU WANT A MAN OF EXPERIENCE, BUT BELIEVE ME, THIS MAN CAN NOT DOING ANYTHING FOR YOUR EAGLES.THAT IS ONE OF RUBBISH PROJECT PLANNING WITH SANI LULU AND C.O. ONLY NIGERIAN COACH CAN DO THIS JOB, SAMSON SIASA IS THE MAN FOR THIS J0B. BUT I AM SURE THAT THE NEW NFF WILL TAKE THE BEST DECISION. DON'T FORGET MY YORUBA TITLE "E JE KA TUN SE"" LET US REBUILD OUR FOOTBALL"

Siasia should not accept that job,for now super eagles job is the most delicate job in the world and i dont want siasia to tarnish his image, please think twice and remember that people that shout hosanah for Jesus christ later asked Pilate to crucify him.Half a word is enough for a wise.

What are these NFF board members up to in Germany? Nothing has changed at NFF with Lulu's ouster. Tell us how many participating Nations have their football Association Board in Germany.Rather than stay back in Nigeria and clean up the mess of Lulu's board, follow closely the investigations, lay down better framework for the uplift of Nigerian soccer, the MAIGARI led NFF is showing us, it will continue in the same frame as Lulu's, viz wasting our foreign exchange, spending unwisely, junketing around and will end up achieving NOTHING.
Mr. President nothing has changed.A CLEAN sweep of these old hands is a MUST,if you(Ebele Johnathan) want to succeed in your ELECTION bid as President in 2011.We will not be voting for you, as a failure to re-structure NFF will expose a serious weakness in your CAPABILITY. Act now please,Mr President.

I have listen to all commentators on this site and this is my verdict:

1. Amodu should not be mention here. Nobody cheated him. He did not meet the expectations of Nigeria and NFF HAS NO CHOICE THAN TO FIRE HIM. HE WAS PAid his due. De Bosque win Champion leagues for Real Madrid but the Mgt still fire him bcos they felt he doesnt have the personality to handle Real madrid. So stop playing sentiment here.
2. Nigerians never ask for foreign Coach. All they want is Siasia but NFF FELT HE IS TOO ARROGANT. In yoruba there is a saying that KAKA KI EKU MA JE SESE, AFI SA WADANU. in other words, they will rather give the job to sumone else than give it to the man of the people. Thats why Lagerback come to the picture bcos they know that they can still convince nigerians with a foreign coach if Nigerians cant get what they want which is SIASIA. Atleast Siasia beats amodu flat during the interview. that is where the injustice started.
3. If you dont believe me, do Opinion Poll and you will see that 90% of Nigerian will vote for SIASIA to be the Coach of the Super Eagles. He is a no nonsense coach who will not bow to anybody and he is very hardworking. Do you think Siasia would have taken Yakubu, Yobo, ****tu , Afolabi and Co to World Cup?
4. I support the Federal Govt in all ther action so far. Infact all the NFF member should go. We need fresh hands. People like Segun Odegbami, John Fasanu, Kodjo Williams, Adokie should come on Board.
5. The greatest problem of Nigerian Football is Amos Adamu. As long as he is still there, Nigerian Football will never no peace. The man breeds Coruption and mediocrity. Sani lulu is from my state but he is not competent to be in that board.

It's a shame that you asked for some ones wife to be kidnnaped....
You need to repent or you perish. This is no joke.

The paramount king: 2010-07-21 11:00

Fellow nigerian do we continue to be fools.Lagerback was offerred a contract the band of Sani lulu and he refused telling them that we have many coaches in nigeria that is capable of doing this job and they fail to understand by running after this red cookies everytime.
Sani lulu was kill nad divide system with lagerback when the PTF was paying and now he is to be paid by the NFF and the wages was cut and he clearly refused because he knew whar was going between him and the bank of sani lulu.
Meanwhile i have adviced that SAMSOM SIASIA should come in because i do keep good record and want to check and tell me which of the foriegn coach has won the world cup with a country please and please tell me.
The coaches that have won the world cups are for their countries no other coach have won the world cup for another country no body but why then can we not learn from the lesson well i want to stop here because if i should abusing now i will violating the terms of my contract with kickoof africa not use abusive words because they know i do get on my nerves easily as these bunch of............misleads us.

The paramount king have spoken and so shall it be with inspiration from the holy spirit that we shall be together behind the SUPER EAGLES AND ALL THE NATIONAL TEAMS FOR TOGETHER WE ARE THE POWER OF 9JA.

Shijo: 2010-07-21 12:02

Only in Nigeria: A person was given a 5-month contract, and yet a 2-week leave within the 5 months? Does that make any sense? When England crashed out of the world cup, where did Capello go? To his native Italy to "rest"? No he went back to England to give his report and recommendations to his employers the English FA. He has already started the rebuilding work for the national team. Another example of Lulu's administrative incompetence.

Lagerback has clearly shown he was in it for the money and prestige of "world cup coach". I can bet with anyone he will not come back. He has collected his money and he has appeared at the world cup, mission accomplished!!

Let the SE rebuilding process start, appoint a new coach without delay, SA has already appointed a new coach, Germany has given their coach a contract extension, even Argentina is begging Maradona to stay, we have gone to Germany to watch a football match, and have pushed aside the more important matters. Nigeria at 50!!!

Austin: 2010-07-21 12:03

@Oba, why do you think we should give Lagerback 4 years and have Siasia assist him for that period. why not give Siasia 4 years and have Lagerback assist him?! Whe nwill we start recognising talent and respecting our own? When wil we learn that our destinies lie with us? If siasia were a white man you all will be begging him to take over the SE. Please NFF, wake up and smell the coffee; Siasia is your man!

Austin: 2010-07-21 12:10

@Duke, that is a pertinent question. When we have a lot of things to take care of at home, what is the NFF top hierarchy doing in Germany? My take is that the whole board shoould go so we can start afresh. Some of the impeached officers had earlier said that Maigari was part and parcel of their chop-and-quench, so he also should go. The handwriting is clear: if we still have MAigari and other still in the Glass House, we will not make any progress.

Ayomide: 2010-07-21 12:36

@ Mr. Lulu, u don’t have humanity in u, why are saying after they kidnapper some one mother and just release and u are still saying the next to kidnapper is his Wife again! Did u want the all the family to be kidnapper? Is not fair let be honest.
TAKE NOTICE,
FEAR GOD AND

Ugonna: 2010-07-21 13:47

Pls we dont want foreign coach any longer. I am not trying to say that Largerback is a bad coach. he is good, but the question is: Will he Live in Nigeria? We want only a coach who will stay at home and sought for skillfull and intelligent footballers.

We no longer want FIRE BRIGADE APROACH where by two weeks to any tournament the same foreign legs will come and play for us again.

NFF should not be so foolish to give Largerback a 4 year contract, because if they do so largerback will simply do the same as Beti Vogt and other Foreign coach whom after signing there long term contract, traveled back to there country untill 3 weeks to a tournament where they will apply there fire brigade aproach again.

NFF pls give SiaSia this Job He long ago merited and desaerved this position.

We know your individual intrest in prefaring a foreign coach but Pls dont start this coruption of having your sheer of a Foreign coachs monthly salary

collins: 2010-07-21 20:03

where is okey-largerback or okey_lagerfront?

oba: 2010-07-22 00:55

@Austin, I am not color blinded, I am just telling you the fact.Sisia will flop if he becomes Super Chickens coach. The atmosphere in our country now, will not allow him to succeed. I want you to understand that Nigeria, can only recapture their past glory, when we start give our best.Remember the problem is not the players, even when I blame them for playing the games with NFF. The truth is that we have a corrupt glass house, and our Nation do not care for people that make them proud. Think about Emmanual Amunike and how his carrier ended. I can assure you that Largerback will be experience enough to learn from his mistake. We need someone that will bring total change and not Siasia.

Latest on Taiye Taiwo transfer:
M****ille Delay Taye Taiwo Switch To Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid were expected to complete the transfer of Taye Taiwo from M****ille yesterday but the move ha***** the brakes, with the French Champions demanding the full fee up front, the BBC have reported.

Taiwo had agreed terms with Los Colchoneros and the club had planned to pay the fee over a series of installments. L'OM clearly want the money up front now, as coach Didier Deschamps most likely wants to bolster his squad in preparation for their Champions League assault, and they have stalled any deal for the time being.

The player's agent, Michael Coker, told the BBC: "The club understands the position of the player, he has served M****ille with strong loyalty and commitment, but now that he desperately craves a deserved move they are stalling on a final approval.

"If they fail to let Taiwo go now, then they stand to lose €6 million in transfer and salary - the ball is in M****ille's court now to play or lose out completely.

"Sadly, the man in the middle of everything insists he does not want to stay at the club anymore, and we expect everyone at the club to respect that."

Coker went on to explain that Taiwo had never had any problems with the players or staff in his six years at the club since joining as a teenager from Nigerian club Lobbi Stars. However, the problems which have arisen from his potential transfer have caused a rift between player and club and for all parties it appears best for the left back to move on.

Taiwo had been a regular for M****ille up until last year, when the arrival of Gabriel Heinze pushed the powerful defender down the pecking order.
