Nigeria will decide on their coaching situation when top officials of the NFF return from Germany next week.
Swede Lars Lagerback was given a two-week holiday after the World Cup, but has failed to return and a top NFF official informed KickOffNigeria.com that the team's coaching future will be decided in the coming week.
"The Acting Pfresident and some members of the board have gone to Germany for the Under 20 Women's World Cup. There will be a board meeting when they get back next week and a decision will be made then."
Lagerback's assistant Austin Eguavoen has been charged with training the team in his absence, but is not the favourite to be handed the job if the Swede does not return.
"For now, it may be [Samson] Siasia if Lagerback does not return. Eguavoen will probably be sent to the Olympic team to start the process of getting a new set of players in place."
Nigeria have a friendly against South Korea scheduled for August 11, and an African Nations Cup qualifier against Madagascar on September 3 in Abuja.
