Mike Ntombela set for Bafana Bafana role

Winds of change in Safa, PSL

Posted: 2010-07-20 10:25

The winds of change are expected to sweep through the ranks of Safa and the PSL in the next few weeks.

The talk is that that former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Mike Ntombela is set to be announced as new manager for Bafana Bafana.

Ntombela, who resigned from Adidas, was earlier linked with a return to Sundowns, but Kickoff.com has established that he is now set to take over as manager at Bafana.

‘Nana Take Me Home’ is tipped to replace Sipho Nkumane, who was suspended from national team duties for what Safa termed ‘incompetence’ in his work before the World Cup.

KickOff.com was unable to make contact with Safa presidential adviser Dennis Mumble, who stepped in and acted as Bafana manager during the World Cup in order to confirm the report.

Ntombela, however, confirmed that he has left Adidas, but added that he will only know his next destination in the next few weeks. “I am still weighing up a few options,” was all he would say.

Other reports are that Senzo Mazingiza is set to fill the vacancy left by former PSL general manager Ace Ngcobo, who resigned in November last year.

The PSL’s Chief Operations Officer, Professor Ronnie Schloss, has also indicated that he could be quitting in the near future, while the Board of Governors could also be looking for a new League chief executive as Kjetil Siem’s contract is about to expire.

When Is shabba & Mphela going overseas?

This gona kill they confidence, if they dont go. We heard a lot about shabba & Mphela going overseas.as for Shabba : Scoring a great goal does not mean you are the best. Fortunately Overseas Coaches are not stupid, they dont look at the goal, but they look at the player holistically. How you perfom, pass, position yourself, combined with other players. Shabba needs experieince to get a deal overseas. Jose Morinho, choze Argetinah Star left winger Di Maria, coz he is a copmlete player. Even Kosinath Nhleko can score a great goal does not mean, he will go overseas.

As for Mphela:: You still lacks experience, you cant trap the ball, or pass. dont expect oversea deal soon

ee critic, well said thats what I have seen with Mphela now he wants to donnor evrybody, I dont know what to do with Mphela, he complains about lonely striker, yet he cannt trap, delay the ball or when to rush the ball doesnt know the difference, n what to do when in face to face with keeper instead of dribbling the keeper he blast the ball to the keeper ei angazi, I dont know how Jomo coached this goat, but with Shaba yes he needs those few penelbeating there n there, he can go but Mphela hmhmhm.

I was very dissapointed with Kermit Erasmus that guy is out of this world, Im sad with his behaviour off the field

Goodstuff, Ntombela is my guy for that position .Thank he is no longer going to join that confused management team at sundwons for he was going to end up under the same blanket with the rest. He doesnt deserve that because he is a great guy with a good vision.
By the way, i want to believe that the hunt for the new CEO and COO is already underway, we dont need mickey mouse stage again.

It's good to see former footballers coming into administration. I'm a Chiefs supporter, but I know that administratively, Mike Ntombela has proven himself in a big company like Adidas, and he's academically qualified. We complained a lot about administrators who know nothing about football, but telling us how it should be run, whilst they were fumbling around and taking us down! Now for the Bafana Bafana Team Manager, SAFA shouldn't go and get someone who has been fired from Telkom, or whoever, for corruption for that matter! If there's an able former player, who's been there and done that, the better!

SAFA....., PSL..... SAFA...., PSL

Changes at SAFA tell me they have now beocome so BUSY (i dont want to say pro-active due to some reasons) in that i can see 2 football bodies running in parallel - each one doing their own thing. For me that says one is still gonna witness a lot of history (don't forget politics as well) which unfortunately will be more of a chaos. Why i'm saying this is that PSL are supposed to be reporting to SAFA but I dont see that (smoothily) happening becoz I personally would not want to report to an incompetent boss. PSL is run more competively compared to SAFA.

Why not form just one football body?

There seems to be too many redundant positions, esp with SFA. Sounds more of an unthought empowerment. I mean what does a Bafana Manager do in their daily job? One can even argue and say they can do that as a part time job. Can't we have someone who is a manager for ALL tha national teams to keep them busy?
I'm saying this as a TAX payer and someone at SAFA is earning a full time salary for doing a part-time job.
