CAF blow for Ghana

Ghana has had its representation in the CAF club competitions cut in half.
This was announced by the Ghanaian Football Association (GFA) on Monday in the wake of the African Football Confederation’s (CAF) decision to act on the West African nation’s poor performances in the Champions League and Confederation Cup, as well as continued snubbing of the competitions.
Asante Kotoko were the last Ghanaian team to manage any sort of success, reaching the Champions League quarterfinals in 2006, and reaching the same stage in the 2008 Confederation Cup.
2009 League champions Hearts of Oak also pulled out of this year’s top-tier competition, following a trend from years gone by.
The result is that Ghana will have only two representatives in African club football next year – Aduana in the Champions league, and AshantiGold in the Confederation Cup.
