Mashaba to assist Pitso?

Shakes Mashaba set for Bafana assistant role

Posted: 19 July 2010 Time: 08:13 am

Former Bafana Bafana coach and recently appointed AmaGlug-glug mentor Ephraim Shakes Mashaba is being touted to serve as one of Pitso Mosimane’s assistants with the national team.

Media reports indicate that Mashaba has been recommended by Safa’s technical team that includes Jomo Sono Gavin Hunt and Ted Dumitru.

Safa technical committee convener Fanyana Sebanyoni said in a report published by the Sowetan today that the recommendation will be presented at the next meeting of the national executive committee.

“We want to see continuity in all the national teams,” said Sibanyoni. “Pitso will oversee all the programmes of [all] our teams and must know what is happening at all times.”

What do you think? Will Shakes work as an assistant to Pitso?

then what about feeder zones, again disregard for junior teams, where most of the action begins. Mashaba was the best for junior to feed senior team.

"Shakes Mashaba has thrown a bold fist of support for new Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane, despite having also recently stated that he is ready to take over the reins."

I for one I would appreciate if we can have an two assistant coaches who has been with Bafana Bafana like Moeti,Rhoo,David Nyathi or any ex Bafana player .I think they can produce the best and they can be able to choose the players who are Bafana material.Coaches who will even go to Vodacom and First division to scout players who can play for BB,this will develop our soccer every players will play with their hearts out.

Doomed for failure!

Next in line to be employed by SUFFER to help Mosimane will be
Simon Ngomane
Phillip Setshedi
Trott Moloto
Jomo Sono

Why are they not employing at least one of the Former African coaches, like abo - Shaibu or someone else to assist him. Those palookas that are assisting him must just fokof we don need them.We will be playing more african teams, than overseas teams therefor we need one of our own black brother as an assistant......

Is this the indication that the brazilians currently in the technical are leaving the team together with Parreira as well??

This Safa’s technical team that includes Jomo Sono Gavin Hunt and Ted Dumitru, I pray that they will not interfere in selection of the team & must give Pitso a free role to coach Bafana Bafana, period.

Good move by SUFFER, now bring inn Farouk Khan, the only man who knows how to handle young players, when i played for chiefs reserves while we still based Mellvile before moving to Milo park, Farouk was a great mentor, people dont know that Jabu Pule, Sbu Mahlangu,Ngobese,Sangweni,Kubheka,Malatsi,Khanye,Mzizi u can name them, they all come from Khan's guidence.

If any of you guys here where @ Naturena while Farouk Khan was in charge of the development, please lets speak for this great guy.

Pitso is BB head Coach and his assistents must be Shakes Mashaba (SA U23 coach) & Khabo Zondo (SA U20 coach)

Please engage that goalkeeper coach from CHIEFS on an ad hoc basis.

it is a good step to have a junior national team coach involved to have continuity. howver you can involve in many other ways. he may not always be available as he has his other duties. i hope itkis not bcoz he feels shaks will not be a threat to him. as general suggested, it is also an opportunityt to groom others......involve fresh ideas.

KING, you've got a point; I almost forgot about Farouk hey. I was there at Naturena but I had best relationship with Terror, Ryder and the late ACE.

Farauk was the best of all though!

Good succession plan. It shows that SAFA's technical team may not trust Pitso to deliver, in case he does not deliver they may have built a good continuity plan in Shakes. I also think that besides the suspecision and pessimism, it is indeed a good plan to have all junior teams feeding into each other. Mashaba must also have an assistance who is an under 20 coach and so forth. Communication must be of paramount importance amongst this teams. Good luck Pitso.

Thabang "Touch" i played for Ryder Mofokeng for only 3 months and then move to ACE reserve B team then to the Reserve First team, shared a room with Schilo and Zane from Katlehong, u know the rules at Milo park, we play the first team evey thursday and Farouk Khan used to beat Mugsin Entugral with the reserves. The man was just good with young players ask Steve Kompela and Khabo Zondo, they will tell u.

But Ryder seem to be favouritist type and parctices Nepotism, i did n't like him. He destroys the potential of young players, Doctor K used to mess the under 15.

I know young boys in townships who far better than your Messi,Ronaldo,Kaka,Vila, through proper channels SA can beat the world, Michael Nkambule is a football genius but due to politics, he remains just that.

Bra Shakes has done it before and can do it again with Pitso as long as Pitso will be prepared to listen and not play the BOSS card.
