Ted Dumitru backs Pitso Mosimane appointment

Dumitru – Pitso was the only one

Posted: 2010-07-16 10:12

Former Bafana Bafana coach Ted Dumitru believes that no local other than Pitso Mosimane deserves the national team job.

The former Jomo Cosmos striker was officially unveiled as national team head coach yesterday, ending much speculation about who would lead the country for the World Cup in Brazil in 2014.

Speaking to KickOff.com, Dumitru says Mosimane had always been earmarked for the position after the World Cup.

“After investing money for two years, one doesn’t throw all the money away plus the interest. If not Pitso, who else deserve to coach Bafana? Pitso gained experience and learnt lot from Carlos Parreira.”

Dumitru says Mosimane’s presence would also help the squad keep their identity and the style of play they displayed during the World Cup.

“It is high time South Africans realise what Bafana gained during camps in both Germany and Brazil. The team found its identity and the only person to continue in order to consolidate our style of play is Pitso Mosimane.

“You saw against France the team was able to play fluent football, they played into space, there was speed, dribbling and it was nice to see players going past and beating opponents.

“Spain was classic example of having an identity in playing football and that did not start during the World cup but in their development structures.

“It is a good move to allow Pitso to continue the job and allow South Africa to play with their own identity and style,” Dumitru adds.

Ohhhh shut up Dumitru! What style of play? What makes u think u r a demi God to declare Pitso as being teh only candidate that was available. What about Shakes,Torvey, Hunt ,Ingesund, and the rest who might have wanted to apply had it not for the SAFA reckless statements and actions. Wena Dumitru u must just go home and be a good grandfather to your kids .Retire from football because you no longer have ideas. You have given your quota to the SA Football. Just stay out from now on.

Wonder: 2010-07-16 10:48

Well said Ted, my sentiments exactly....!!!!!!!

Ziggynet: 2010-07-16 10:56

Did he say that no one else deserves to coach Bafana, and that Pitso learnt from pareira.... Yho,, thats a weird statement...

Obi: 2010-07-16 11:06

South Africans are funny people, how can you mention Tovey, who cant even keep his job with a so called smaller team Amazulu. As far as I understand Pitso was put to that Assistant position to learn, basicly it was a long term plan for SAFA, so will always knew who will take over after WC. Whats the use of Long term plans if we not gonna stick to it. Ohh must I remind you that Swaziland is almost the same level as SA interms of football, so why this Mashaba guy did change that team to a competitive team.
JINGLES IS THE MAN!!

Simon: 2010-07-16 11:10

Dumitru is 100% right. If SAFA wanted Gavin Hunt, Gordon Igesund, Shakes Mashaba to succeed Parreira then they should have employed one of these coaches as his assistant 4 years ago. Also they need to hire a South African assistant to Pitso (Like Tovey) to take over from him when Pitso leaves. We have seen that hiring and firing foreign coaches is a very expensive and yet futile exercize. Ask Nigeria, Cameroun, Ivory Coast... They all had foreign coaches that only took the job so as to fulfill their own ambitions of coaching at the WC. There was no long term plan to take them beyond the WC hence they have to start again and maybe bring back the likes of Shaibu Amoudu to build the team that is in shambles at the moment

Obi: 2010-07-16 11:21

recall my comment: I MEAN'T TO SAY WHY MASHABA DIDN'T CHANGE SWAZILAND TO A COMPETITIVE TEAM?

Thabang [The KHOSI One]: 2010-07-16 11:24

Welcome Coach and please fire those Brazians from BB camp and save a few rands for us. Please appoint Maqoba Mqethi (AmaZulu Coach) as your ball boy. He wont stab you in the back.

The KHOSI One

Good move SUFFER,Pitso is the one but he mst find a experienced assistant I'll say someone from Africa so that we can have broader view and conquer africa first.I dont see anyone besides maybe Tovey in SA who can assist u my coach good luck

Jingotres: 2010-07-16 11:44

Who is Ths Dumitru to our National team.

Dumitru failed us during the Afcon as the head coach.

3 Shots at goal and 3 on target.
No Goal scored
No Own goal scored,at least an Own goal.

Shut the F* up Old Tyma.
This is not Tawana Downs.

Jingotres: 2010-07-16 11:46

Can't you see Failure is written all over Pitso's Face.
The Poor man has learnt nothing from the Brazillians.
Tell me of a Bally boy for over 5 years now.
Who cares.Pitso won't make it.

MidoValdo: 2010-07-16 11:53

I repeat again Parreira will be back to head the technical team and giving all intructions to Pitso....Pitso is just a middle man....

Jomo: 2010-07-16 12:11

Whether you like it or not Pitso is our coach & I applaud SAFA for appointing him. Those who believe Hunt, Igesund & Tovey were the right candidates are still mentally enslaved, colonialism has destroyed their brains because they believe anything that is being done by a white man is superior.Pitso has been with the team for the past 4 years & he must just carry on from the foundation that was laid by Pereira. Viva Pitso "Jingles" Mosimane Viva.

Jomo: 2010-07-16 12:14

@Thabang

I fully agree with you when you say Manqoba wont backstab Pitso. If Pitso wants to lose his job he must rope in Tovey. Tovey will backstab Pitso because these whites still think they are superior than blacks & they have a tendency to illtreat Africans . Tovey treated Bafo Biyela bad at Amazulu & what will stop him from backstabbing Pitso.

Simphiwe: 2010-07-16 12:15

U shut up TEd its because he learn from you, He will does the very same thing that you did with him from nation cup to come back not even score one goal

General: 2010-07-16 12:18

Bafowethu,I don't see ourselves qualifying for WC2014 in Brazil if in our soccer there is no transparency,I agree with Jomo Sono when he says why the competition was not open to those who think can make it here is Mzansi.Pitso was in the National team what has he contributed to BB.I have never seen Pitso encouraging the boys in the field of play he just sit for the whole 90 minutes doing absolutely nothing. What is that special thing does he have within a short time of failure that makes him to qualify for the position? Where does this Fanyana Sibanyoni comes from? as he was on of the guys who was on the panel to give Pitso a job.

I am not against Pitso but I am against the way his appointment was conducted,Why was the nation not considered to choose an appointment ,The squad is not for the SAFA but is for the nation.Let the people speak ,what are they rushing to choose the coach so soon without making their minds. As for mina l don't think Pitso will go far ,mark my words guys .

Swona Champ!: 2010-07-16 12:37

against France? what is this toothless man talking about, France went to that game emotionally out of it, even Cosmos should have put seven goals passed France on the day, we can not form base by guys like bo Mokoena and Teko, those guys are ****ed up, maybe bo Sangweni, Masilela, Tshabalala and Pienaar in the middle are the only base we can think we have a base, but you will see, gaxa or mokoena, one of them will be wearing an armbend against Ghana, Teko will come and play in the right wing, a position which Mabalane his play mate marster at OP

Ayanda: 2010-07-16 13:59

Lets see how he does against GHANA...we might be shock (when we loose 4-0)...HA HA HA. Just kidding, but honestly lets give him a chance

Vuyani: 2010-07-16 14:48

Somebody tell me if Ted Dumitru has a RSA citizenship cause is acting like a soccer crazy expert.
It's about time we have a South African coaching the national team. People like Shakes Mashaba and Clive Barker have achieved something with Bafana bafana, what did this guy Ted achieved with BB?
What happened with his academy or the soccer book? I'm sick and tired of these criticism from this old man. We building our national team and its about time we believe in our own!
What is Ted doing for his own country? SAFA have invested so much money on Pitso!
Give the man a chance to do his job without interference! Why ask people to apply for a job knowing who is going to be appointed? Come on people way before 2010 world cup we all knew who's the next BB coach. Why now ask questions! I'm Proudly South African and behind Pitso and the boys 100%

King,King thank you buddy for speaking the truth ,what you are saying is 101% correct.Finish and Klaar

vutomim@gmail.com: 2010-07-16 16:19

d only way Pitso can achieve his mandate is to change the Brazillian approach of play. Its time 4 Mzansi style to shine. No more attacking with 1 striker and having 2 holding midfielders. we nid creativity in Bulk and Loads of goals starting against Ghana.

Teams like KC,OP & Sunflops needs to start preparing players who will fit in the national team. We also nid more representation on the international level

Spha : 2010-07-17 07:24

King Pitso got UEAFA B LiCENC you underminin our black Brothers

hendrick : 2010-07-17 08:58

he is still young

Happy : 2010-07-17 15:04

It saddens me to see that we are still living in the colour era. So I will add my penny's worth, Pitso got the job because he is of colour. I would not ordinarily have said that outsright but I am tired of people of colour continously bringing race into the equation. We did not have the best team by any means at the World Cup but the politically correct colour and so... at the next WC in 4 years time with the politically correct colour coach and team, wow scary, we won't even qualify - watch this space!!!!!
