Bafana Bafana defender Bryce Moon will to return to Panathinaikos after his loan deal with PAOK FC expired at the end of last season.

Moon, who failed to make it into Bafana Bafana's final World Cup squad, has had a successful knee operation and is now determined to make his career with Panathinaikos a success.

Speaking to KickOff.com, the former Ajax Cape Town defender's agent, Mike Makaab of Prosport International, confirms that the player is to return back to Athens soon.

"He had a nagging knee injury that sometimes used to give him problems; however he has now had a successful operation. He will be back at Panathinaikos for the pre-season and we will see what happens after that," Makaab adds.

Our development standard is not good at all. It is disappointing to see such promising youngsters coming back to PSL at their age when they should be attracting European teams left ,right & centre. I always thought it was tutors/coaches from the development sides are also contributing to these dismal results from our youth level and I always thought maybe they(coaches from development) were not competent enough to develop our junior boys. I always thought something was wrong somewhere along the way in our development structure and the they way they nature our young players.

Then I started thinking of number of our players who failed to make it abroad / they warm the bench for a season overseas then come back and play in the PSL
Nathan Paulse,Tso Vilakazi, Terror Fanteni, Siyabonga Nkosi, etc

Promising young players coming back, the likes of Ninja Mofokeng, Stanton Lewis, Michael Nkambule, Kermit Erasmus, etc .What’s wrong with our football ?

Is it because of foreign coaches?
Number of foreign players in a clubs?
Poor development system in our country?
OR is it because of Vuvuzela/Jabulani ?

I think we can come up with all these excuses but most of our players have limited talent, just average , not good enough to be playing in our PSL. There’s not much talent in our country in terms of football. Maybe these players they’re driven by the desire for money and that’s it !
I’m not pessimistic but our standard of football is actually disappointing.

What happened Mzansi ?

Gucci Man

I suspect mabe its the build up / shape of our players.
All the few player that were succesfull in Europe/ abroad
Lucas Rhoo, Masinga, Doctor, Tinkler, Shoes, Makalakalane, Kompela, Fish, Mkhalele etc. All of these players were complete players they had height and were physical strong. Nowadays we expecting Nkosi syabonga , Vilakazi, Nkambule, Davids lance, Klate and all these tiny players to compete with abo Drogba, abo Pique, Toure yaya/ kolou etc.
You know what they do in Kzn if you having a cattle and you see your nabour is having / producing good and strong calfs ( amankonyane). You borrow his bull to spread that shaped genaration to your cattle. Maybe we shud enter into a deal with Ivory coast, Ghana, Toga, France, USA, ( definately not Nigeria) for a trade so we can get aa different mix of youngsters

kikililikikilikikiki....that was funny and interesting
I like this line"Maybe we shud enter into a deal with Ivory coast, Ghana, Toga, France, USA, ( definately not Nigeria) for a trade so we can get aa different mix of youngsters"

Why not Nigeria my bru ? I also think their players physically are good he he he he he

But if you remember (Gianfraco Zola from Italy, Jorge Campos from Mexico a brilliant goalkeeper, John Moeti very good and solid in the middle, Bebeto was also tiny not sure about Romario's height . We have all the equipment,to be in the same structure as West & North African players.

Our players need to spend more time at the gym , look at Nhleko ,Kagiso Dikgacoi

'Moon, who failed to make it into Pitso Bafana Bafana's final World Cup squad'

this is how you should have put it!

Thabo: 2010-07-13 15:54

When Parreira did not include Bryce in his 23 man squad I wanted to kill the coach but now its clear that the reason Moon was not included in the final squad for the World Cup was a nagging knee injury that sometimes used to give him problems. My apologies to the technical team.

Swona (Treble): 2010-07-15 15:44

even if he was well, he was not going to be selected ahead of Pitso's son, gaxa! wish gaxa missarable life at Sundowns and internationally!
