Enyimba claim record title

Enyimba edged an entertaining game 2-1 against Kano Pillars on Wednesday in Aba to claim a record-equalling sixth domestic title, level with Enugu Rangers.

Osas Idehen and Josiah Maduabuchi both scored for Enyimba, with Moses Ogaga converting a cross for Pillars.

Enyimba went into the game needing just a draw to match Rangers, whose last triumph was in 1984, but it took until five minutes before the break for them to open the scores, Idehen the man to find the headway.

Pillars, hunting for only their second ever title, matched the five-time winners and threatened with record-breaking league scorer Ahmed Musa a constant danger.

"He is a good player, and I must confess that Pillars are playing very well," Enyimba Media Officer Tonnext Chukwu admitted at half-time.

Despite Pillars' efforts, it was Maduabuchi, who has impressed all season in the blue of Enyimba, who got the second goal on 75 minutes.

But still Pillars refused to roll over, and were duly rewarded when Musa crossed for Moses Ogaga to finish and provide a nerve-wracking finish to a cracking encounter.

I so much wanted Pillars to win but still happy for Enyimba. At least we have a very strong representative in the next CAF Champions league.

Kudos to NPL especially Obaseki for his contribution.

Black stars of Ghana did well in the ongoing world cup just because they used most of their home based players. Why cant the NFF and the entire Nigerians similarly have faith in these devoted local players who are making us proud in the local and CAF competitions?

The best club side in Nigeria no doubt.......congratulations to all the players and supporters mainly TRADERS in Aba.
I recomend Mr Felix Anyasi Agwu for the post of NFF....over the years the man has proven to be a good football administrtor instead of looking for rogues like Lulu and co.

@Mozesky, People should stop making the error of saying Ghana had a team of home based players. that is FALSE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Probably a few were home based but the majority were based abroad. what we need are just hungry players thats all. If we can invite players that are determined, i dont care whether they play in India or Surinam, if they are passionate about playing for the country and are obviously good enough they should give them a chance. I remember people critisising why ****tu was invited yet at both the CAN and W/Cup he was by far our best defender ahead of "regulars" like Afolabi. Nzobu Nzobu Enyima enyi. Bravo to you. And to Kano Pillars,well done you have proved that your title winning season was no fluke. Now go and reclaim our status in Continental football.

Can someone answer me this question, why is a proven man like Anyansi Agwu of Enyimba not NFF chairman?Why are we so corrupt that even the best are ignored for our ignorant sake. Congrats to Enyimba. They have once again demonstrated how to be successful though dint of hardwork and professionalism.
I have asked the same question over and over why Felix Anyansi is never being considered for the NFF position but no one seems to have answers to my question.
I used to think it was the influence of Orji Uzor Kalu that made Enyinba thick, but I have now realized that it was the majic of Felix and for using the funds at his disposal wisely. Go Enyinba Go Enyinba.

I am glad that my prediction before the world cup is coming to pass. I did mention clearly that a new champion will emerge and this is what we gonna have come Sunday.

As things are now, I will be Ok with whomever wins between Spain and Holland. Thought my heart is with Holland, my head says its Spain. Either way, I am glad that a gunner will be part of the champion in the person of RVP and FAB.

Congrats to Holland, Congrats to Spain for getting this far.

I m so dissapointed by you Nigerians, are these Enyimba guys really your champions? These guys are now trailing 4-0 to Zambia's former champions who have had a very bad season this year. You guys cant be serious, Zanaco are doing really badly in the Zambian league and we didnt give the much chance against what we thought was a powerful ENYIMBA.
