Spain's Vicente Del Bosque – It was uncomfortable

Del Bosque – It was uncomfortable

Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque admits La Roja were out of sorts during their 1-0 win over Paraguay on Saturday night at Ellis Park.

Reflecting on the win over the South Americans the former Real Madrid boss admitted it was the first time he had seen Spain struggle so much to victory.

"We didn't play well mainly because we didn't get enough of the ball. There were good things but we weren't as at ease in possession as in other games and it is important to be comfortable. It has been a very tough, very uncomfortable match but this is what we expected. They didn't let us play our game and in my time a Spanish side never felt so uncomfortable or passed the ball so inaccurately," said Del Bosque.

Despite his assertion of his team’s unconvincing display Del Bosque declared war on Germany, their semi-finals opponents on Wednesday in Durban.

"We are not scared of Germany. I think they are playing better than anyone right now, but we are strong and we can take on anyone, including the Germans," he said.

Meanwhile, Paraguay coach Gerardo Martino believes his team had the beating of Spain. "We have played with all our heart… we played with Spain on an equal footing but we were not lucky, it was not our night. I feel very proud and I have congratulated my men in the dressing room and I know everyone in the country feels very proud of the team who has represented them.

"Spain are in the semifinals but we could have been there too," Martino added.
