Musa sets League scoring record

Ahmed Musa has set a new League goal scoring record after scoring in Kano Pillars' 1-1 draw against Lobi Stars on Saturday at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi.

Musa had been tied on 17 goals with Eugene Salami, the same number of goals scored by Ishaya Jatau when he set the record in 1990 and equalled by Akwa United striker Akarandut Orok last season.

The Pillars striker found the back of the net after just ten minutes of the fixture to set the new mark and said afterwards that it was mission accomplished.

"I am so happy that I finally achieved my aim of setting a new record of scoring 18 goals. Now the team must do its best to beat Enyimba in the last of the season to win the Premier League title," he told the NPL website.

Congrats boy you've tried but don't allow this little achievement to enter your head, you still have a long way to go.

"Let no one be deceived, there is money in football and money in NFF. Therefore, those who pocket NFF pocket potential and real millions of any currency. Money comes in from all sorts of angles and in all sorts of ways. To prepare for the World Cup alone, the world football ruling body, FIFA, gave $1m to NFF to prepare, whilst on the eve of departing for the World Cup the Federal Government gave it N900m.

Just to get NFF going for the Nations Cup, the Presidential Task Force put in place by President Jonathan gave NFF about N700m. All this dizzying sums is apart from other monies coming from private sector sponsors, donations, and sundry gifts in the course of organizing and sending teams to partake in various international competitions, and all in the last six or so months! It is crazy but it is true."

@ Billion, truly, it's very crazy and mind boggling. However, like FIFA said, Govt must find a way to deal with corruption allegations and not punish football for that. I agreed with you, what is the role of EFCC, ICPC & other similar agencies?
It's perplexing that ex footballers will concur to the idea just to be on the board of NFF. HOW DO WE DEVELOP OTHER EX FOOTBALLERS IN FUTURE IF FOOTBALL IS GROUNDED FOR NEXT 6 YRS (2 YRS + FIFA'S 4)? ARE THESE GUYS JUST SELFISH? NOT FAIR......

Big bros I am happy for you for the record. Forget the trophy please...it's Enyimba's.

I like ambitious players. Football goes with record setting and you need to break one to set up another. Is a good star for you fro breaking first on home ground. Good luck, but just forgetting about winning Enyimba.

Just pray, boy, that Mr. President rescinds his decision, otherwise you do not have a chance of developing beyond Kano Pillars. And in 4 years your age will start catching up with you before you. Congrats though. By the way, where is Akarandut now?
