Igesund to replace Komphela?

Posted: 2010-07-02 12:16

Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Gordon Igesund has emerged as hot favorite to replace Steve Komphela as head coach at Platinum Stars.

According to a source close to Dinaledi, Igesund is expected to sign with the club before the weekend.

"There are a few other candidates for the position, but the appointment of Gordon Igesund has been mostly welcomed by the majority of Board members," the source says.

"They were talking to him before the World Cup and now the deal is close to be done."

Questioned for confirmation, Igesund declined to comment on the matter.

"I don't want to comment on that at this stage," was all he would say.

Other coaches reported to have been considered for the Dinaledi coaching post include Ian Gorowa, David Bright (now back with Bay United) and Muhsin Ertugral.

Eish, this is the coach who can win cups for Pirates. He will also come cheaper than these useless foreign coaches.

True Mr Idiot - hehehehe eish your name.

I think Gordon's lost the plot. he can't stay anywhere. And what has he done since the glory days of Manning Rangers, Pirates and Downs. If he doesn't do anything at a team with as much money as Plat Stars then I think he really would have lost the plot. Good luck (no Jonathan)

@ Nosi

He was there already but the style of play he implemented to the team was not good for us.

Siphiwe: 2010-07-02 14:25

It would be better if he was considered for the National team too!

Gordon brought a lot of organisation to Pirates and did well!
