Platinum Stars are searching for a new coach after Steve Komphela was officially relieved of his duties today.

It confirms KickOff.com's earlier report that Komphela was going to be the next PSL coach to be axed and 'Dinaledi' have now announced Komphela is no longer their coach.

"Mr Komphela and the club part ways with mutual respect and admiration," the statement reads.

"Komphela succeeded in attracting a number of young players to join Platinum Stars, and the long term prospects of the club look very good as a result. Platinum Stars will announce his replacement well ahead of the upcoming 2010/11 Absa Premiership season."

Stars finished 14th on the log under Komphela. He was in charge of 30 League games; won nine, drew four and lost 17.

Komphela's reign was marred by reports of ongoing players revolt some going months missing training in protest of Komphela's alleged authoritarian style of leadership.

He must stop talking Shakespearean-Oxford Dictionary English and do his job as a coach. This man has potential to be a good motivator, but he seems not to be doing well wherever he goes.Or otherwise get employment as a Tv ****yst, where he is always spot-on and his views are respected by many. I respect him though...

khompela is going no-ways he didnt prove his worth as platinum stars coach,i mean since his arrival the players are undiscpline let him go and see what the team would be without him.

Atang

Mabhiza: 2010-07-01 14:36

The man should have remained with Free state stars where he did well, you see now, money goes with disappointments.

Steve this is not your job, try something different , what about being a motivational speaker, stop embarrasing yourself you did well as a player

These merry-go-round of coaches is doing harm to our football. We are recycling coaches instead of developing.

I wont be surprised to see Neil Tovey at Platinum Stars, Mushin Ertugral at/Pitso at Pirates and Manqoba at Amazulu.

UP THE BUCS, ONCE AND ALWAYS!

Steve is a good coach. I think the problem is that SA teams want instant results. they should look at their players. What was Steve supposed to do if the team sign old players like Meireng, etc.

Masemza : 2010-07-01 19:22

i'm not alarmed by Steve's sacking. He is a good ****yst with positive comments, but can't convey them into the field of play. Maybe he can try being a commentator on full time basis.

Jabu Maluleke: 2010-07-01 20:35

JmasterJ, I believe Komphela himself asked they sign Meiring. Incidentally, Platinum Stars lost every match in which Meiring was in the starting Line-up. Talk about a cursed player...

I feel happy for Manqoba mqithi for his new appointment at amazulu, hope he will keep the team inside the top eight, because amazulu deserve to be among big clubs since it's the old club

IT TIME 4 ARROWS TO ACT FAST TO REPLACE MANQOBA WITH KOMPELA

Zweli: 2010-07-02 07:39

Khompela is not a bad coach its just that he couldn't make it at Dinaledi...If he goes to Golden Arrows he will surely make the team gel and win some silverware... remember he wasn't bad either at FFS, just like Mushin was good at Ajax CT but failed at Kaizer Chiefs...
