Moroka Swallows have made their first new signing ahead of 2010/11 season after securing the services of South African-born defender Roger da Costa.

The little-known but highly-rated Da Costa is joining the Dube Birds after a spell in the USA College League, where he played for Tyler Junior College Apache.

Swallows assistant coach Zeka Marques has confirmed the signing ahead of their pre-season, which starts in Johannesburg next week Monday.

“He is joining us after spending a few years playing college football in USA and is bringing great quality to the side. He has signed an 18-month contract with Swallows.”

Marques also confirmed the possibility of defender Sbusiso Khumalo leaving Moroka Swallows, with both Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs reported to be interested.

“There has been great interest, but Leon Prins is the right person to talk to about that,” he says.
