Drogba – The future is bright

Posted: 2010-06-25 23:01

Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba has maintained an optimistic outlook towards the future, despite the Elephants’ exit from the World Cup on Friday afternoon.

The Africans beat Korea DPR 3-0, but Portugal’s draw with Brazil meant they crashed out on goal-difference.

“If we were in a better group maybe we would go through. I think we were unlucky both times in the World Cup,” the 32-year-old says.

“We are disappointed, but at the same time we can’t be too disappointed when you are in a group like this with Portugal and Brazil. We are a good team and we have good players, but I think those two teams are better than us.

“For a country like Ivory Coast to be in a World Cup twice in a row is something fantastic. Knowing that in the past we have never been there before, to play against Brazil and Portugal, two of the best nations of the football world, it's like a dream for our country.”

You are right Drogba and I salute your brave heart to play with a cast on your elbow.
Only very few players can be patrotic to shoulder such responsibility.
You are truely a fighter!!!

Therefore, Congratulations to you, your fellow teammates and the coaching crew for making us so proud.
I'm impressed and full of praises for the Elephants and will beat my chest to say that they are the best team to have represented Africa in SA in the gruop stage.

Though Ghana is still hanging there and have moved to the 2nd round, but a close look at the CIV's oppossitions and their outings reveals that they actually left the competition with their heads up high.

They did scored against Brazil in their only group loss, held Portugal to a draw and trashed N.Korea to exit with 4 points.....Great Achievement if you will ask me when compared to results of the already exit Afriacn teams.

I implore the CIV federation to seek for younger and capable replacements for the aging elephants so that their good work will not go down the drain.

Thank you again CIV...

Look forward to a more better representaion of the African continent in Brazil 2014!!!

God no dey sleep!!!

No excuse for this. What about the African Cup of Nations? Drogba, what your people need is a fighting and a team spirit because you are not playing as a team, though, you may have quality players in your team, yet you are not playing as a team. Go back to the drawing board and revamp your strategy. Ghana is moving forward because they have the right shape of mind. Additionally, they play as a team know how to do it best. Ivory Coast is just over priced.
