Maritburg United striker Fadlu Davids has extended his contract for a further year.

Davids' contract with United was set to expire at the end of this month, but club CEO Afzal Khan says he is delighted that the Cape Town born striker has extended his deal.

"He has been one of our best players and we are grateful for his loyalty to the team."

Khan also dismissed reports that they were gunning for the services of former Kaizer Chiefs striker Collins Mbesuma.

"It was one of the newspapers in KwaZulu-Natal that first came out with this story and to be honest we are not interested in the player."

Maritzburg have also not given up on signing Zimbabwean striker Terrence Mandaza who is also wanted by Orlando Pirates.
