Australia captain Lucas Neil says he believes German can 'absolutely whop' Ghana and allow the Socceroos to sneak into the second round of the 2010 World Cup on goal difference if they beat Serbia.
Australia are one of four teams n Group D all with a chance of reaching the second round stage on the final day of group matches and Neil is hoping Germany will be as ruthless against Ghana as they were against the Socceroos in their opening 4-0 win.
But Neil says he also would not mind a Ghana win so long as that plays into the hands of Australia who themselves must win to stand any chance of winning.
"I did see enough that suggested Ghana can beat Germany but I also saw enough to think Germany can absolutely whop Ghana," he said. "We have a chance and if that happens and we go out there and beat Serbia then we are in. The last thing we want is a draw in that Ghana-Germany game."
A draw will take Ghana through on four points regardless of the result in the Australia-Serbia game.
"We want Germany to perform the way they did against us and be clinical and score a lot of goals and hopefully that brings Ghana's goals aggregate into the negative.
"With us we hope Serbia opens up because they need to win as well and create chances. If Germany win 3-0 and we win 2-0 then that is it. But then if Ghana wins 1-0, we just win and that is it."
