Sthembiso Ngcobo signs for Kaizer Chiefs

Posted: 2010-06-20 08:24

Kaizer Chiefs have made their first signing in preparation for next season after securing the services of Free State Stars striker Sthembiso Ngcobo.

"Following close and protracted negotiations, Ngcobo signed a three year contract that commences in the new season," confirms Chiefs on their club website.

The 26-year-old's relationship with Ea Lla Koto had soured after he asked to be placed on the transfer list and was subsequently told to train on his own.

During the 2008/09 season Ngcobo started 20 League games for Stars and scored 10 goals, but the past season turned out differently. He started 12 League games in an injury-ravaged season and failed to score.

Chiefs have also confirmed their head of youth development Walter Steenbok has resigned to join Mamelodi Sundowns' youth academy.

"The management and staff of Kaizer Chiefs wish Mr. Steenbok success in his future endeavours," reads a statement from Chiefs.

Meanwhile, football manager Bobby Motaung has confirmed to KickOff.com that Jose Torrealba has signed a new one-year deal. "Torrealba is staying for one more season," Motaung says.

kodwa when will Chiefs learn. Why can't they nurture new talent instead of buying buying buying. Look what happened last season with that guy that went to Sundowns even the coach was dissappointed that he never got the chance to work with Xulu. This team has all the money to develop youngsters. Look at what is happening in our national team, we are the one if not the only country who didn't have one player younger than 22 in the world cup. What is happening in this country? Mina i give up on our soccer.

If we want 2 win things with our team we need 2 strengthen our striking department, THE LIKES OF TORREALBA, NHLEKO, MUSONA, & SUPERB NGCOBO i dont c anyone standing behind us this season, the department dat we left of is (defenders) after dat we 'll be ready.

Welcome home Sthembiso Ngcobo.

Bobby this is a very good signing, this boy is a goal poacher, good in the air, can take defenders on, good box player. What a signing!!!

Just get Morgan Gould and Siyabonga Sangweni!

If an administrator like Mr. Steenbok resigns, is just like when a cleaner or a tea lady leave a company....amanzi amancane lawo.

Mr. Steenbok you are not indispensable!!

Thapelo: 2010-06-29 19:56

finally he came home, we bin prayin tirelessly for ths boy to come to HOME and now our striking force is complete, the middle we are still all rite we don't need Prince Olomu but we can exception for Josephy 'Shakira' even if we could loose him to another club DVD is still around - he's such an intelligent player tht one, Goalkeeping the department we are solid but Defensively i doubt we are solid enough or wht do u khosi like me ppl say?
