We respect Mexico but…. - Aaron Mokoena

Posted: 10 June 2010 Time: 10:01 pm

Bafana Bafana captain Aaron Mokoena has made it clear that Bafana Bafana have respect for Mexico, but that they will make life very difficult for El Tri in the opening game of the 2010 World Cup.

"We have played against Colombia in this stadium and have a feeling of how it will be in the stadium. We are looking forward to tomorrow’s game. We want to be relaxed but not too relaxed. It is most important to enjoy it," said Mokoena in the pre-match press conference.   "The Confederations Cup is different to the World Cup. We respect Mexico but it is important to give our all. We need tomorrow’s game badly and we will make it difficult for Mexico.   "Carlos Vela is a fantastic player but it is not about individuals. They play three up front and are quick, intelligent players. It is important that we analyze how they play.   "Tomorrow is about us and about what we want. The moment of truth has arrived. There has been a lot of talk, but now it is about taking the pitch and making the country proud.   "The experience of the coach is vital. He has been there before. We had to get the confidence and win the support of South Africans. Through this experience now we have an identity. It is all about experience.   "His technical staff have done the job. We train so hard. Now it is about time. The belief among the boys is there. Now we are aware of our qualities. It is important we show those in those three games."

Three Greek World Cup players had money stolen from their hotel rooms and Chinese journalists were robbed at gunpoint, officials said on Thursday. The incidents in the crime-plagued host country follow the armed robbery of Spanish and Portuguese journalists at a lodge north of Johannesburg on Wednesday.

Police said a group of tourists from Canada, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Tanzania returned to their bus at a visit to a wine estate outside Cape Town to find nine passports, two digital cameras, a laptop and $500 cash missing. A case of theft had been opened, a statement said.

I just hope they're not going blame it on Naija as they usually do.
