Richards joined his team mates in celebrating the victory which brought yet another success at Soccer City – the venue of their last two Cup triumphs in 1995 – but he was wasn’t running around the field like his team mates. "I had a knee operation after picking up a bad injury at training some two months ago. I was told my ankle had some ligaments that were torn," says Richards. "I can already walk without the assistance of crutches but I can only do so slowly, so as I wanted to walk around at a faster pace on Saturday, I took along my crutches. "I started physiotherapy some three weeks ago and I am recovering well. The good thing is that I will be ready for pre-season," says Richards. The former Kaizer Chiefs winger has battled with injury since initially arriving on loan at Wits from Naturena four years ago. In his first season at Wits, the 27 year-old broke his leg in September 2006 and only returned to action in March the following year.
