Both AmaZulu and Bidvest Wits players have given the Soccer City Stadium the thumbs up after the hosting of the Nedbank Cup Final on Saturday.

Usuthu and the Clever Boys were given the first opportunity to open the revamped Soccer City Stadium in front of around 80 000 fans. The Students were crowned as the Nedbank Cup champions after beating Usuthu 3-0.

Speaking to KickOff.com, AmaZulu captain Pere Ariweriyai says he rates Soccer City as one of the best stadiums he has ever played in.

"This is a beautiful stadium I didn't even realise that there were about 80 000 fans there because my focus was on playing. It's one of the best in the World and I have no doubt that people around the world and players who will play there during the World Cup will enjoy being there," he adds.

Wits captain Tefu Mashamaite also said that he enjoyed the presence of the huge crowd.

"I think this will be one of the good memories that Wits players will enjoy for rest of their lives. Winning the Cup is just the cherry on top of the cake. Soccer City Stadium is going to become part of South Africa's football history."

Local fans also enjoyed being part of the opening although some of them complained about the traffic congestion leading to the venue.

"I don't know they allowed both rugby and soccer matches to be played so close together but I was only able to watch the second half of the Cup Final, says Mamelodi Sundowns supporter Lesego Sekwele.

"Besides that I was very impressed with the stadium and I am sure Bafana Bafana will also do us proud in the opening World Cup game against Mexico," he says.

Very true Fortune ... look no further than the picture of this article, the stadium, do you think nigerians have the right of even dreaming that such a structure could exist in their pathetic wasteland?
