Roger De Sa quotes on the Final

Nedbank Cup winning coach Roger De SA’s quotes about the Final.

Roger De Sa on the star performers:
"Michael Morton was good today, I thought the young boy Shakes (Nyiko Tshabangu) started carving them (AmaZulu) early on and this was very positive.

"But when Marawaan Bantam went off, we lost a bit of composure because he puts his foot on the ball and slows it down. He went off with a groin injury.

"Mark Haskins tried things today, but it wasn't his best display. He's a confidence player … if he does the first thing in the game right then his confidence grows.

"But when Fabricio came in … you know it's difficult to get into a final and catch the pace so quick, but to score in the Final when you're not a goal scorer is really good.

Roger De Sa on his tactics:
"We went at them (AmaZulu) from the start. We knew they like to play that long ball to the two strikers, who like making runs. We said that we need to stop their supply and get our centre halves into that hole to stop the ball reaching the forwards.

"I think this frustrated them a little. We found they play a 4-4-2 and often there are big gaps between their midfield and their defence … we put our attacking midfielders in that hole.

"Remember our first few opportunities came like this, with our guys making runs and if their midfielders don't track back then they are in danger. I don't think they really have a defensive midfielder.

"To be honest when we watched the videos of AmZulu, we saw they lacked pace. We contemplated playing Kadi (Calvin) because of this. But Jomo (Sifiso Vilakazi) is the form guy and he leads the line well and is so strong.
"So we went with Vilakazi and he gave us strength and power."

Roger De Sa on the trophy:
"I saw the trophy and saw only two clubs have won it – Sundowns and Swallows. Now the only other club that's not on there that I've played for is Bidvest Wits, so I don't know if that meant anything (laughing)."

No wonder Orlando Pirates don't win trophies - they either loan out or sell their best players to other teams. The day they hire a good local coach like Mngqithi, Mosimane, even Rossle - the day they will start winning trophies. If Krol is a good coach how come our best players were let go to other teams? What has his defense minded apporach done for BUCS? Bring back Segolela, Morton and get rid of the dead wood defensive midfielders who can't play soccer but only defend! How did they help defending the 1-0 lead against Sundowns? Even me would love to coach a team against Krol! Lol!

Congradulations to Wits, I was in the staduim, the atmosphare was fantastic because of the fans not the game itself. I enjoyed the dancing, waving and the placards of the fans and of cause the beautiful staduim.

I was Impressed By Jomo (Sfiso Vilakazi), He has the presence, the strength, the control, the correct passes and quite very good shooting. Keep it up Madala

Good one Roger, your plan outwitted the experts at Usuthu! I hope you can keep the momentum and do not lose too many of your players to other vultures!

Haskins seems to be the lucky charm as this cup follows him, hehehe
