Ngcobo sent to train alone

Free State Stars striker Sthembiso Ngcobo tells KickOff.com that he has been sent to the gym to train alone after requesting to be placed on transfer.

Ngcobo mysteriously disappeared from the Stars line-up in the week after scoring goals against Vodacom League side Tower United in the first round of the Nedbank Cup.

It also emerges that a number of Gauteng clubs, purportedly headed by Orlando Pirates, are seriously interested in the burly striker’s services next season. But the problem is that he still has two years remaining on his contract with Stars.

The player feels that Ea Lla Koto’s management have sent him to the gym - situated in the same complex as the club offices - as a silent punishment for having told the club he wants to move on.

“I have informed the club about what I feel is basically a transfer request,” Ngcobo says cagily.

“Right now I am training in the gym alone waiting to hear from management what is going to happen next. I don’t really want to talk much about this,” he adds.

The 26-year-old has spent the past three years at the club after joining from Durban Stars.

Respect players' decisions? How about respecting your contract? He signed it himself. If anything Stars should send him to go train with the kids.

Players sign contract and request to be transferred it happens all over the world,Ronaldo had a Contract with Man United before he requested to joined Real Madrid. Fabregas has a Contract with ****nal but he wants to join his home team Barcelona. Lets understand football first before we insult Sthe. Free State Stars is managed b people who do not understand Football, maybe they understand soccer just like MONGO

Wena san you think you are better thatn everyone else. You ditched two Bafana call-ups, because you were "not ready". Now you think you can just get out of a contract that easily.

Why did you send a contract for that long if you knew you would want to move on before it expires?

Ncgobo could be a good acquisition for O. Pirates. He is a great finisher and shoot direct to the posts without dribbling much. He reminds me of Phil Masinga. But I agree with guys who says players should respect their contracts though...

everyone thought Shaka Zulu would be a good acquisition for Bucs, I don't see this boy going far.

Sechaba, what happens all over the world is players only dictate where they want to go if they have less than 18 months left on their contracts. If they still have more than 18 months left on the contract they can request to live the club but that decision of whether they are allowed to leave or not is entirely up to the club. In circumstances like that it is entirely up to the club whether the player goes or not. If a player has two or more years left on his contract and the club decide the player is not going anywhere that is the end of the story. Free state have decided to dictate, and rightfully so, what to do with Ngcobo. Ngcobo should knuckle down, be proffessional enough and get on with it. Next time do more research on football issues before you come here gassing.
