Sundowns coach Trott Moloto explains AmaZulu defeat

Moloto blames lack of depth

Yet another PSL season has passed with the super-rich Mamelodi Sundowns finishing as empty-handed as the also-rans.

Stand-in coach Trott Moloto, who was able to steer the Brazilians past Orlando Pirates in last weekend’s Nedbank Cup quarterfinals, failed to out-fox former Sundowns employee Neil Tovey, who has able to coax a brave, come-from-behind victory from his AmaZulu team.

When asked to assess Sundowns 2009/10 campaign, Moloto said: “We had a fair season if we are to compare with the past two seasons.

“This season we managed a second-place finish in the League campaign and reached the semifinals of the Nedbank Cup. I think a lack of depth eventually caught up with us against AmaZulu.

Looking ahead, Moloto added: “It is still early days to say what will happen in the new season. We will take time to review the season in the near future and see where we’ve gone wrong.”

Moloto was non-committal about how he thinks things will pan out between Bidvest Wits and AmaZulu in the Final.

“Amazulu showed great character to pull off the win against us. Wits also put in a determined effort against Free State Stars in their semi. It will be a very interesting game.”

Hee Trappatoni, you never cease to amaze. But you are right about lack of depth. You were out of depth against Pirates, but instead of correcting your shortcomings, you basked on "GLORY". That what I fear most about your friends Shakes Mashaba and Khabo Zondo. The junior national teams might start well in their competitions and instead of improving they will relax.

I hope Mokoko's victory over you was a lesson. Luck is part of football, but like a dice it can roll either way. In those situations tactical nous will stand you in good stead, but after your luck against Bucs, you thought it (your luck) will continue, hardy Bro.

I disagree with Trott about depth, bcouz even Tovey was missing 4 players from his usual back 4 and not only that we won against Pirates with the same players. We missed chances during the open play and if u miss chances u bound to be punished during shoot-outs.

I hope he has been misquoted, as this is not true..Sundowns were terrible and defended poorly, especially for Amazulu equalizer..

Downs was beaten by Amazulu with a makeshift defence. Only Chintu was a regular defender for Amazulu. Even he was substituted at halftime. Tovey should be the one complaining about lack of depth

Ever since Mr Moloto came to downs it have been a nightmare for us downs supporters. I hope Mr Motsepe don't give him any more time to coach us. The man lacks technical skills. Sundowns was a mansion which he destroyed in 2 days. Anyway for all downs fans. Lets rectify all the mistakes, make sure we get a permanent coach this time and concetrate on winning things for the next season because this season we are out, mara why?

Mr Moloto, I think you have now overstayed in Sundowns. Will you go and look for greaner pastures somewhere!!. You are slowly destroying our beloved team. I don't know how one man can destroy such a big institution. Look a Floyd Mbele in Pirates. The reason why Pirates have been Trophyless for years is also partly due to the man. Mr Motsepe Please, I beg you humbly with respect. Get us a competent management, coach and players or else we will keep on wasting money. 2 years without a trophy, Its only 8 years left, for us to realize another 10 years of dry season. We love our team and we do not want to quit and go to other teams, because you hired incompetent people.

Exactly my point my man. In the begining of the season. MR Motsepe Promised the supporters that Sundowns will bounce back. But when I saw that he is still keeping bo Moloto I realised very early that we will be doomed for failure. Mr Motsepe also said he takes all responsibilies for Sundowns failures. How do you take responsibility while you have given all your responsibilities to an incompetent individual who is failing us dismally?

mr moloto ithink depth is not an issue,but planning and concetration was required to win the game,bacause sundowns is having alot of players who can play with any team in the psl without any complaints,coach next time you must not use this as scaping goat for you defeat bcz it will dent you image im worried sundowns supporter after that game
