AmaZulu are pitted against Mamelodi Sundown and Bidvest Wits against Free State Stars in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals.
The draw involving the last four team in the competition was conducted at The Venue in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg, today.
Usuthu, who have lost in both the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout Cup semi-finals, will be hoping to make it third time lucky and advance to their first domestic cup final since 1992.
AmaZulu coach Neil Tovey is hoping that his team have learnt from their two earlier cup defeats this season.
"We need to learn from those previous semifinal losses and have to rise to the occasion against Sundowns. No matter who you draw at this stage of the competition it’s going to be difficult. We have faced tough opposition throughout the Nedbank Cup and we are looking forward to the challenge of facing Sundowns."
Tovey’s opposite number, Trott Moloto, hailed his team for their performance in the quarterfinal win against Orlando Pirates and believes that they face an equally tough encounter in the final four.
"There is no way we can start underestimating AmaZulu. Any team who have come this far need to be respected. Once more we are expecting a tough and challenging game, but we have to give it all we have as this is our last chance to win a trophy this season," explained Moloto.
Ea Lla Koto stand-in coach Themba Sithole could not be happier with the fact that his team have drawn the Clever Boys in their semi-final.
"We came to this draw hoping to avoid Sundowns, as we wanted to face either AmaZulu or Wits. We got what we wanted by being drawn with Wits, as I believe that Wits and AmaZulu are beatable.
"The team has been given a mandate to win the Nedbank Cup to redeem ourselves for what has been a disastrous season. If our approach for the game is good, it is possible for us to win it," said Sithole.
Both semi-finals will be played on Saturday, May 15. The Premier Soccer League Cup committee will confirm the venues and kick off times for the games later today.
