AmaZulu to exploit Pretoria University weakness

Usuthu to exploit Tuks weakness

Former Pretoria University player Warren Bishop who joined AmaZulu at the start of the current PSL season is bullish that Usuthu will more than have the measure of the NFD side when they meet in a Nedbank Cup quarter-final match on Saturday.

Although the defender was an integral part of Amatuks giant killing run in the 2008/09 version of this competition which saw them fall short at the last hurdle, Bishop believes that Usuthu's greater experience will be the difference between the two sides when they meet at the Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg.

"They've got a couple of inexperienced players at the back, so, that's what we'll be looking to exploit," said Bishop.

"If we get into their faces, I think we've got the players to who can capitalise on that. They might be a lower League side but we won't be taking them for granted. We are well aware about what they've done in the past, besides, our coach and technical team warned us about being complacent against AmaTuks and we not prepared to take any chances.

"We've fallen short in two semi-finals this season (MTN8 and the Telkom Cup), so we intend going all the way in this competition. Also, all the players are eager to play at Soccer City - the Nedbank Cup Final will be the first official match at this done-up World Cup venue - we've been talking about it from the first round," added Bishop.

Neil Tovey's squad is desperate to hand the club a first piece of top flight competitive silverware since winning the old Coca-Cola Cup in 1992.

They have fallen at the semi-final stage in both the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout earlier this season, leaving the Nedbank Cup as their last hope of glory in the 2009/10 campaign.

Thus far things have gone well for the KwaZulu-Natal giants. In the last 32 a late goal from Brad Ritson handed them a 1-0 away win over provincial derby rivals Maritzburg United and in the previous round they overcame Moroka Swallows, the reigning Nedbank Cup champions, on a penalty shootout after their evenly-matched game had ended 2-2 after extra-time.
