Arthur Bartman's award for Telkom Knockout goalkeeper of the tournament has done little to elevate him to Kaizer Chiefs' number one keeper slot.
Speaking to KickOff.com at the Telkom Knockout awards function today Amakhosi head coach Vladimir Vermezovic maintains Itumeleng Khune is still the number one in his mind.
"I have said that Khune is the number one and Bartman is the number two. I still say that… I'm still behind what I said. There is nothing wrong with that, but I enjoy working with Bartman because he is an honest guy and he is always very serious," says Vermezovic. "Bartman knows his place at Kaizer Chiefs and he deserves his award," he says.
Bartman told KickOff.com he "respects" the coach's view on the matter and will be happy to deputize for Khune next season.
Vermezovic also made special mention of defender Dominic Isaacs, who walked away with the Telkom Knockout defender of the tournament.
"Dominic has worked very hard and when he got his chance he used it. He had an excellent tournament and he fully deserves his award," he says.
The Serbian has further warned the award recipients to enjoy it while it lasts.
"For next season their prizes will mean nothing to me. They will have to work hard like the other guys and they must enjoy it until July, but after that it is work again," concludes Vermezovic.
