Golden Arrows head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has apologised to the team's supporters for failing to make it into the top eight.
Abafana Bes'thende finished 12th on the log and will therefore not defend their MTN8 trophy in the new season.
"I felt that I should take this opportunity to apologise to all our supporters for such a disappointing spell in our last six matches of the season… I sincerely apologize to all our supporters for our failure to be able to defend our first trophy," Mngqithi writes in his monthly column.
However, he was quick to justify the team's downward spiral towards the end of the League campaign.
"I feel that I should clarify that the rumours linking me to other clubs did not do my team any good, the focus of my young team was severely compromised," he says.
"These rumours have also destabilised my camp in many ways any I am seriously taking a strain in all this. The worst part is that not even one team has approached me and I find it very strange that no one seems to trust me this time around," Mngqithi continues, clarifying reports linking him with AmaZulu.
"I've always been totally committed to this club and we've always had such disturbing rumours but we've remained one family against all such storms. How strange is it to note that these rumours are perpetuated by one and the same newspapers?
"Let's all rally behind our team in these trying times and hope to lift silverware. I want to thank all our supporters for their relentless support to our team even when the going was very tough," he concludes.
