Sundowns says no to Mosimane

Mamelodi Sundowns have ruled out the possibility of appointing Pitso Mosimane as their new coach.
The Brazilians are on the lookout for a new coach following Hristo Stoitchkov’s resignation, with many believing that Mosimane, currently assistant to Carlos Alberto Parreira at Bafana Bafana, is the favourite.
Sundowns communications manager Alex Shakoane says while they have already received plenty of applications for the job, Mosimane is highly unlikely to be the one they decide on.
“Agents are calling and our fax is flooded with applications from all over the world,” ‘Goldfingers’ tells KickOff.com. “We are not surprised though, as Sundowns is a big club. We are presently looking for the best coach, both locally and internationally, to lead the club next season.
“We have also seen reports in newspapers that Pitso might be joining us next season, but that is totally untrue. Pitso is national team material. He achieved a lot with SuperSport United at club level and I don’t see him taking a step backwards to coaching at club level again.”
Meanwhile, Shakoane says they are surprised about the story on KickOff.com that Stoitchkov and his assistants are still seeking clarity on how they are going to be paid for the remaining months of their contracts.
“We discussed everything in our meeting in terms of both parties and everybody was satisfied. It is just disappointing that these guys always go to the media to express their grievances and fail to address it with us.
“As far as I am concerned, everything regarding their payment was agreed on yesterday. We were also surprised to hear them saying they were chased away at training yesterday as we understand they were here to pick up their belongings.”
