Orlando Pirates defender Zvenyika Makonese says home advantage will win it for the Buccaneers, when they host Bloemfontein Celtic in their Telkom Knockout fixture this weekend.
Pirates and Celtic, who drew their final League encounter 1-1 last weekend, will meet again at Orlando Stadium in the Last 16 of the Telkom Knockout Cup on Saturday evening.
Makonese tells KickOff.com that the encounter will end in smiles for the Buccaneers, who need to win at least one of the remaining two Cup competitions, if they are to appease their fans after yet another disappointing League campaign.
"Celtic are playing good football and they cannot be underestimated, but we are playing at home this time," says the tough Makonese, who has of late become a regular fixture in the Bucs' backline.
"However, I believe that we have an edge over them because we are playing at home this time. We drew with them in the League but Cup competitions are different in that one side must come out victorious.
"Management has told us that the Cup should end up in Parktown and that is what we are also working hard to achieve after such a bad performance in the League."
Makonese adds that Pirates' biggest problem has been that of scoring, but assures their fans that they have worked on that going into this fixture.
"We have been defending well and have now worked hard to try and convert chances; something I hope will improve the Saturday game."
