Safa has confirmed Sturrock Park (Wits University Sports Complex) as a training venue for Bafana Bafana's base camp.

Announcing this today, Safa CEO Leslie Sedibe congratulated the Wits administration for their professionalism during contract negotiations, and expressed satisfaction with the facilities of one of the oldest football clubs in South Africa, Wits University FC.

"Wits University is a home of football, and we are delighted as Safa that Bafana Bafana will prepare for the World Cup in training venues that have a very strong football culture.

"Coach Carlos Parreira is currently preparing the team at the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) training Centre in Rio, the team will then move to the adidas technical centre in Germany, and then set up final preparations at Wits.

"We believe that players will be inspired and motivated by the football ambience and culture of the training venues we selected, we are on record as saying, we will prepare adequately to climb Mount Everest, even if it means a change of tactics along the way," explained Sedibe.

Why so many places? I thought the SAFA admin. had financial difficulties as it was last reported so where do the funds to travel, stay & train in Brazil & Germany come from? Is it necessary to go train on foreign soil when in fact we are hosting the world cup?
