Maritzburg United striker Fadlu Davids has re-affirmed his commitment to the club for another season after turning down an offer from Chinese Super League outfit Shaanxi Chanba.
Davids was in China last month and did well during his trial with Shaanxi Chanba. He was offered a contract, however the former Platinum Stars striker has turned it down, opting instead to continue with his soccer career in South Africa.
"I was supposed to leave this week to join the club as they are beginning their season in a few weeks time. However, we failed to agree on financial terms as their offer was almost the same as what I am getting here in South Africa.
"My contract with Maritzburg United expires next season and I intending staying with the club until then."
Meanwhile Maritzburg have expressed interest in retaining their coach Ernst Middendorp after his outstanding job of saving the club from relegation.
Middendorp arrived at United late last year where he found them in precarious position on the log but quickly turned them around and into a competitive outfit.
"He did a wonderful job for us and I don’t see any reason why we can’t keep him next season," club CEO Afzal Khan tells KickOff.com.
