Vermezovic fined for 'aggressive' behaviour

The Premier Soccer League has fined Kaizer Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermezovic R50 000 for an on-the-field incident recently.
The Serbian stormed into the field in an "aggressive and menacing manner charging towards the referee" in a match against Mpumalanga Black Aces on February 24 and had to be restrained by his own players, an action the PSL says it brought the League into disrepute.
Vermezovic reacted angrily to referee Buyile Gqubule when the latter blew for halftime with Chiefs winger George Lebese one-on-one with Black Aces keeper Oscar Ramogoadi. He was found guilty and fined R50 000 wholly suspended for 12 months. He was also handed a one match ban and ordered to pay the cost of the sitting amounting to approximately R21 000.
The sanction will be effective seven days from date of judgment subject to his appeal. If Vermezovic doesn't appeal, it means he won't be on the bench for the Telkom Knockout match away to Santos on March 21.
Meanwhile, the case involving six Santos officials and players appearing on charges of also bringing the League into disrepute following unsporting behavior and abusive language towards the referee (Harry Lekitlane) in their match against Kaizer Chiefs on November 20, has been postponed to March 15.
Referee Lekitlane and linesman Lazarus Matela failed to award Santos a goal, which could have been an equaliser, when a late Eleazar Rodgers header clearly crossed the line. However, after Lekitlane consulted Matela, he decided to restart play with a drop ball, which didn't go down well with the Santos team.
